Is it possible?

When turning off the engine, vehicle needs to put itself on park mode automatically. Is it possible?

Right now it is two separate actions. My wife sometimes (2% statistical probability) forgets to put on park and vehicle rolls. But she never forgets to turn off the engine.

So I want a simple thing: when she turns off the engine - the vehicle must put itself on park automatically?

I had the same issue when I first bought the car, I have a hard time remembering to push the button to put it in park or turn it off.

If you open the drivers door with the car in R or D it will automatically go into park. Its a safety feature.I have done this several times since owning the car.

I also asked this same question to my service guy. The B-class and c-class loaners I had have this option. Turn-off the engine and it will automatically go to park and engage the foot brake which makes sense. I think it is just a programming issue and since everything is electronically controlled there should be a way to enable this through STAR. The fact that the transmission goes to park when you open the door while in D and disengages the foot brake when you are in D and hits the gas makes you think it should be easy enough to have that option. Most likely the dealer will not do it and you have to go through a independent shop who has STAR and can reprogram the transmission to enable this feature.
