Similar to our order: ML350BTC, P1, lane tracking, Dakota Brown, Auburn/Black Leather, satin Ash, wood steering wheel, airmatic, adaptive damping, power passenger seat, active ventilated seats, and trailer hitch. Its a brown thing I guess.
Our SA estimated August, but didn't have any bluetec build dates yet. |

Were you guys able to negotiate about the price this early yet or do you have to wait until the car is delivered? I am going to place my order for the MY13 as well. It's good to know that dealers taking order this early. Thanks.

I was able to work out a deal in which I pay invoice less the fleet discounts in effect at time of delivery (all combined, I am expecting $3500 under invoice, but it may vary upon delivery date). On a separate note, I am trying to determine if there is a difference between the Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist & Lane Keeping Assist that is part of the 993 Lane Tracking Pkg ($850) and the "Active" versions of the same items under the 997 Driver Assistance Pkg ($2950)??? I know the more expensive package includes the Distronic Plus, but are the other parts the same??

I saw a brand new Dakota brown ML coming off the truck at the dealership this week and it looks very sharp. My last ML was Peridot brown and I must have had 1,000 positive comments on the color. Nice choice.

I must admit, while it was not my first pick, I does look amazing and that what my wife wanted (her daily driver). The only thing I lost out was on the wood, I wanted the Satin Ash, She is getting the Burl Walnut :-). To me the ash looked more elegant vs the plasic looking shinny burl.

Thanks dougiebear, does that mean the only difference between the "regular" and "active" versions of the Lane Keeping/Blind Spot, etc. is that the active version includes braking to help vehicle aviod the issue and return to the original lane??

LANE KEEPING ASSIST 1) ACTIVE 2) STANDARD 3) OFF
OFF- self explanatory
STANDARD- if you drift out of the lane the opposite side rear brake is applied and it pulls you 3 degrees "gently" back into your lane. ACTIVE- if you drift out of the lane the opposite side rear brake is applied and it pulls you 3 degrees "aggressively" back into your lane. The system freaks out at me about 3x/trip because I like to change lanes without signaling when there is no traffic around. It comes as ACTIVE when you get it from the factory and it freaked me out as I was trying to take and exit and the construction crew didn't have a chance to remove the solid line. The whole vehicle basically lurched left, and I had to "fight" the steering to prevent hitting the guard rail. Also UBER annoying: on and off ramps when you want to use the shoulder to give a more gentle curve, it YANKS you back into the center. |

Where did u get that brakes are used with the passive system? MB does not talk that way in anything I watched or read. Only noise and steering wheel vibrates just like the NEW collision avoidance. I'm sure only with distronic do brakes work to actively assist. One guy on here found where a car changed lanes around a corner and the system pulled his car out of lane to avoid being hit. But it was the active distronic version

When you were looking at the '13 range did you see an Off-road version or an Off-road Package?
Supposedly that have been testing it in the UK at least as a '12 model at it got good reviews. At the NY show they said The Ml Offroad would be available in NA as a '13 but they had no details. |
