People, here are the facts and I know first hand(second because my cousin had it on his E). It don't leave no traces once removed!!! So please stop argiuing about if you never had it. Like someone on here said already and it's absolutely correct that when one flashes their ECU with a chip than the dealer will know something is up but not with the KD or Racechip box. Trust me when I say that he had it it worked and nobody will void any warranties because it won't damage nobody's car. Plus like I said before it gave him couple of mpg more

If he had any issues I would not bey saying all this, don't you think if anything was to happen it would in those two years. People use this great performance upgrade for diesel cars for years and never heard anybody had a problem because of it. Anyway I have nothing to do with that company but I'm just letting people it works with no issues.

@hubert: do you have installation guide? I've bought a racechip pro for use with my 2012 ML350 W166 and I couldn't find the connector.

Which connector? There was instructions but they show some 4 cylinder diesel engine and the connector is in front, on all new bluetec and posibly CDI models the connector is in the back left side when one is looking at the front of the car.

That helped a lot Thank you.

I attached the picture. It's GL X164 Engine, but same location for my ML350 W166. Disconnect the connector is a little bit tricky, quite hard to reach. But once you done it, second time is pretty easy.

Installed Racechip ultimate 2 days ago, but till now did not try as my daily car is BMW 650i 2012 F12, probably will drive ML350 on weekend and will post report if it does save petrol or increase performance.

You're an idiot, chips and ECU remaps have been round for longer than you can imagine. I have chipped enough cars to know that it's fine if you have a reputable company. It doesn't matter if it's a brand new car... I have chipped cars weeks after I have owned it and not one had a problem.

Excuse me the W166 is not yet a year old.
Do tell Jeff which reputable tuner company do you work for. And why are you here looking for results? One might think with all that expertise you would already know the answers. Then again reading and understanding seems to be a problem. And again not a year old yet. And the chips and tuner boxes are even younger.
Am I wasting air explaining why you can't find the info ur looking for or are you going to continue the ranting you complained about in your first post? Go crap in someone elses sandbox leave ours alone. Or at least lighten up.

I clearly stated in all my replyes that Racechip works on the new bluetec engines, my cousin had it for a year on his E350 bluetec and was really happy. It also fits your ML350 bluetec and if you want to give it a try my cousin is selling it. PM for more info if interested. He will sell for a really good price.

This is 100% false. Factory tunes focus on passing emissions. The STi is a well documented case of an engine tuned to run lean to pass emissions with dangerous AFR measurements from the OEM tune. Many of the stock, low mileage motors blew because of this, poorly thought out break in procedures, and random oil filled at dealer choice.

Agree. In fact both of my Audi's have massive power gains and 4-5 mpg increases via tuning.

They can't tell. This is a piggyback solution. I do this for a living so this is not speculation. However, flash tunes may be flagged by the dealer depending on the manufacturer's software. For example, VW and Audi can tell immediately if the car has a current tune but cannot tell if the tune had been removed so long as the flash includes a flash counter reset.

The BMW X5 boards have many positive/successful threads on the Racechip tune. As was mentioned, this is a piggyback, not an ECU flash. The ECU itself doesn't see anything. In a somewhat simple explanation, the tuning box intercepts the signals sent by various sensors. The ECU thinks it is still operating within it's normal parameters. The data being logged are all "normal" values. Take the car in for your passenger seat no longer working, they can't say claim denied because your car is tuned. However, if the turbo blows, there may be a way they can look into to see if mechanically it was running 4-5psi (which isn't much at all) over factory set. May also look and see that certain connectors were removed at some point. A VW dealer is much more likely to look for these things than BMW or MB. And you're gonna find many more GTI's, A3's, and A4's running an aggressive tune along with charge pipes and down pipes rather than X5's and ML350's. Guys are chips on diesel pickups for years with no issues. Sounds like this Racechip is a mild tune and being done w/o other mods so there's really nothing to worry about.

Personally, after this gas GLE350 I'm in now, while I'm not a fan of the 4 cylinder diesel, I might give it a try w/ the Racechip. Hopefully we can get a GLE350d by then.

The dealer will be able to detect that the vehicle has been chipped at some point. the engine will operate outside normal parameters to have any increase in performance. That will be easily detectable.

As an ex-dealer, I will assure you that in case of a potential warrantable failure, the dealer does not need to prove anything to deny warranty. They deny it, you invest your money to fight the dealer and the manufacturer to prove them wrong. They will cause you to spend far more in legal fees than the value of the warranty item.

You-re resurreecting a 4-year-old thread, but whatever...

Even "cheating" devices like the Racechip that don't directly modify the ECU code can be detected if the factory looks for it. Nothign happens at the dealer level - in case of a catastrophic engine failure, the entire ECU code is uploaded to the MB engineers in Germany, who are most certianly able to tell. If your ECU reads that the MAF has been ingesting air at -5C in July, and moreover the DEF system (which is by design inpoerative below 10C and uses a different temp probe) has been working... yeah, good luck with that.
