Reset computer after DIY oil change
My 2012 ML350 just hit 10,000 miles.
Just finished with oil change & installing MB proprietary oil filter. Do not buy K&N or purolator, as they do not fit, even though Amazon &/or Advance Auto Parts says they do. Trust me, I've tried them all, & only the MB fits.
Tried to go to Assist Plus on the control panel, it stops at "Service overdue, 100 miles ago...etc...". Can't go any further.
Called MB dealership, they said they can only reset if you pay $130 for them to do the oil change. Since DIY, I'm SOL. so WT*? Said for me to wait until I get to 20,000 mile service, & to put up with that annoying reminder every time I start up the car until then...
At least my BMW can be reset w/ a $49 tool.
So does anyone have to right instruction to reset the computer for a 2012 model?

Instructions are available on the mbusa.com website under the owners section for your model. Look in the how-to video section.

I followed your instructions to: http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/owners...lass/model-All
Then:
http://www.mbusa.com/mercedes/owners...007c184335RCRD
That seems to be instructions for resetting computer after oil change for previous or different model, since my 2012 ML350 does not have the same buttons or functions...
Next...?
btw, only oil filter that works for 2012 ML350 is:
MB genuine part # A2761800009

Thanks for the info.
I'll print it out & try it out at the next 20,000 mile change.
Went to a local independent european auto shop, & they took less than 5 minutes to reset, for free, since I bought 2 of the MB ge nuine part above from them for $15.50. Maybe they used that same info to reset, but don't know...

Here is the official most up to date way to do this from the same Workshop Information Manual that is used by the dealer's techs.

I found the reset procedures in this app for all the Mercedes I work on. here is a blog post that may be helpful. If not, the app has all the resets. Hope this works.

Fees involved AFTER you download and install it.
No thanks.

I am a tech and I work on a bunch of different makes and models and this app is extremely useful for someone in my position, even for a one time fee of $2.99 to have all the reset procedures at my finger tips, well worth the cost. Maybe not worth it for the DIY one time use thing unless you own a domestic or asian car, those are all free.
