Tailgate Latch Problem

Our 2013 is a great truck with no major issues so far, but one persistent annoying issue is that the tailgate closes but does not draw in and latch all the time. Just had our first A service and reported the problem and was told when I picked the truck up that "they couldn't find any codes" , had reprogrammed the tailgate and it was working fine. When I checked it later that day at home I could tell they had reprogrammed the tailgate because it went up high enough to hit the garage door instead of stopping where I had previously set it, but the tailgate still didn't draw in and latch at the bottom. Has anyone else had this problem and what did your dealer do to fix it. Without a code, I'm afraid my dealer is just going to keep reprogramming and not fix the problem.

They will need to either adjust the Liftgate Striker or change out the Struts and or latch. The struts are a new design for the ML/ GL from the hydraulic system if the 164. They went through some growing pains with those. I would try and get them changed out under warranty.

Had the same problem. Mb claimed it could be fixed with software. The strut eventually failed. Finally fixed after 4 trips and a lot of wasted time.
