Door Edge. Guards

My last LX Lexus had these guards applied to the edges of the doors so the paint would not chip off if they hit something. I am not talking about door molding.

The LX was black and the edge guards were very well attached and looked very nice. Does the MB dealer offer these or is it something I can buy and install myself. Looked on Amazon and they have so,e but people were complaining about the adhesive oozing out in not weather and getting on your hands and the door paint. The ones on my black LX did not ooze glue and looked and worked great!

Anyone try these and if so where did you get them.

I hated how many dings I had on my 09 Camry after 1 - 2 years so I totally get where you're coming from. My 2012 C class doesn't have any dings after 2.5 years, not sure if it's because Mercedes is made better than Toyota or because I'm very careful where I park. The Honda dealer where we got our last Accord installed them on new cars and then (over)-charged for this "extra". I find these protectors look tacky

These do not protect you from dings in the doors. These are on the edge of the doors. This is not protective molding applied to the door face.

True, they would protect your door if you hit it against other cars, walls, etc. I'm sure as much as you love your ML you wouldn't do that

So, what's the best solution to prevent dings, other than parking far far away?

I don't think there is a solution. I always try to get the bigger parking spots, park next to cars that look expensive and clean vs. parking next to old crappy cars. Chances are that the car next to you will have a driver that might hit your car but no passengers. At some point you have to deal with the fact that you can't control everything around you so if it happens, it happens but again Mercedes are made better than most other brands so a little hit might not leave any visible marks on your car as it would on a cheap car. Some people believe in teflon protection coats and who knows what but I wouldn't waste my money on that.

My handicap sticker due to a fused ankle from a motorcycle accident many years ago.

I just had an invisible bra put on my 2014 ML550. I did the hood, front fenders, all 4 doors, rear fenders and the tailgate (so pretty much the whole car with the exception of the roof). It cost me $2200. The reason that I did it was that my last car was stolen and unfortunately recovered (trashed). It has the full front invisible bra. The jackass that stole it ran the front end into something. The bra took the impact and once the bra was removed, there was no damage to the area. I figure it's worth a shot to try to avoid door dings in addition to the fact that I park in another country when parking in a lot.

I did the full invisable bra thing on my Cayanne S but disliked it. I know it protects but it took away from the looks of the car in my opinion

I have Xpel on my front bumper, mirrors, and full hood with wrapped edges and you cannot see that it is there.

My ML came with the door edge guards. I did not ask for them. I just assumed they all did.
