On a number of occasions our ML has emitted a warning sound (two beeps). Does anyone know what these beeps means. (We have no driver's aid options.) Thanx in advance!

What were you doing when this sound went off.

Describe what was happening when you had the two beeps.

Just driving. Sometimes while turning, other times while going straight. Have tried to correlate occurrences of beeps with a specific set of circumstances but have been unable to so.

It's probably the crash warning as it thinks you're approaching an object and a crash is imminent. I've had it happen a couple of times too. A red triangle icon will illuminate also. Both of my times were false alarms too.

I just looked it up in the owners manual. See the third paragraph on page 70. It's called Collision Prevention Assist. It's apparently a standard feature even if you don't have Distronic. It says that interference from other radar sources can cause it to alert also. I believe that's what happened to me as I was approaching one of those photo radar enforced traffic lights driving toward the radar beam when I got the two beeps and the red triangle.

Yeah I've had it happen when someone dive bombs into a space in front of me. Crash alert but IMO it's not been close.

Thanx! Page 77 in the 2015 Manual. Did not see any indicator light (red triangle) illuminate. Same section of manual references Adaptive Brake Assistant. Is this feature an option or included in all MLs?

I get that frustrating two beeps and the lighting of the distronic triangle. A Nuisance, described to me by the dealer as Collision Prevention Assist, but that's crap as it has come on in my own driveway.
