Do MLs Require Too Frequent Brake Jobs?
Do MLs Require Too Frequent Brake Jobs? Are the Brakes undersized for the weight/momentum of the car, or is Brake Service just about on par with any other Benz?
Years ago (1998) I had a Tahoe that needed fronts or rears alternately every 1500 miles? I thought that was too often and they must have been undersized.

On my 2012 ML350 BTC I replaced discs and pads at 36,000. The service advisor told me I must have been easy on them as the usual is 30,000

At 48k with no need for brake pads on our 2013 Ml350. 90% highway driving. Our 2010 Ml350 never needed brake pads during our 3 year lease and 75k miles on the odo. I do get them measured every service to make sure they are good. Thats impressive for this big hulk.

When we had the 2011 ML I had complained since aprrox 3,500 miles that the brakes were squealing on /off, especially the rears and was told they were fine. Every Time it was in for service (which was a lot) I asked them to check the brakes, and I was always told they were fine.
Then at 18K miles the front and rear pads had to be replaced. When I told my SA that I never owned a car or SUV that needed pads replaced under 20K he told me "18K is about right and besides these are heavy trucks that eat brake pads".. His exact words..
On the 2012 ML the rear pads had to be replaced around 16.8K and was told the fronts were ok for now.
BTW - this is 50/50 highway and city driving..

I've a 2014 bought in Feb with 29K and I've no problems with the brakes. They'll look at 'em when I hit 30K for service. Tires like new.
