ML400 after 1k km ......

The build quality is perfect so far ..... No error code nor malfunction. The drive is smooth, and can be aggressive too. (vs W164 it was a nightmare - steering wheel sensor replacement in the very 1st mth, ABS sensor malfunction after 30k km, then repeated every yr, 7 speed transmission overhauled.)

3L turbo
It is soft start - same as an average mercedes, but the 3L turbo is amazing that outruns my highly modified 3.5L W164. I have plugged the sprint booster that much improve the soft start issue / fuel pedal response.

Brake system
The brake performance surprises me. In the old days, I had high requirement on the brake, and mostly I need the disc and pad upgrades, in particular for a heavy SUV like this. This is the first time ML400 gives me the outstanding braking power

Suspension and 18" wheels
I believe it is same W166 suspension as 3.5L. It is much improved than w164. Though not as good as the high performance suspension, it is comfortable and not much to worry when I overspeed at the curve sometime by mistake

Mods
The factory engine oil felt as diluted as water. I replaced the factory oil with the shell oil as soon as the car landed.
Sprint booster installed to improve fuel pedal response
Looking for 19-20" wheel upgrade (pls let me know if any good suggestion)

Hi. I have an ml400 as well (US). I love mine too. Plenty of power, good braking, and great looks. Mine came w AMG 20" wheels. They are very nice and you could look into getting a set like the US model offers.

Also, winter is coming around where I live so I am buying an AMG replica 20" set. They only cost a fraction of oem AMG wheels so you could consider something like that. Just go on ebay and search 20" AMG and you will get a lot of results. Good luck.

HI, congrats on your ML400. How did the sprint booster feel, is it much better than stock. I'm thinking to buy one but I cannot find one for my car type on their website. I would go for 21 or 22" if i dont live in a place where there are snow in winter, why not? My car came with 21" from factory and I will soon be upgrading to 22".

Yes amg wheels is on my list. Looks like a few new model is coming out, and will wait & see.

I'd rather use the sticky oil 5W, rather than the factory oil to give extra protection. That worked with my 10-yr old w164 without oil leaks.

I used sprint booster on my w164, c coupe, and now w166. All work great. It behaves like giving you extra torque, but in fact it makes the fuel pedal accelerate the response or shorten the delay. It has three modes - off, normal, aggressive that you can switch any time you want.

Back in the dark days when my wife owned a prius #nonprofitpeerpressure, I stumbled on a prius board where there was an ongoing series of threads ( I mean years and years worth) debating dealer recommended oil change interval.
These people debated oil changes like you would not believe. They would send oil away for analysis, change oil incessantly, tranny fluid, oil brands, which lab to do the testing...it went on and on and on.
Having come to that board from the ML board here, I was surprised that people devoted so much time to second guessing the engineers of such a sophisticated power plant.
Here it's just "service A" and "service B" as needed...

It is a 3L TT hence will easily outrun the 3.5L
