Dude I just got home from the dealer and my 2013 ML550 is got the same problem. First set was at 12000 now at 20333 they are warped again and they want 1050.00 for new fronts. I have a call in to Mercedes Benz customer service. We shall see what they say. I say BS to replacing brake on a $70000.00 car once a year

My LX570 did not need brake service till 40k.
Seems the Germans use a softer pad and shoe material to increase braking performance. As far as the warping goes, that should be warranty for sure.

In my experience, there are two factors: how you drive, and where you drive. My first ML went to 55,000 before needing fronts. Rears were done at about 45,000. I'm not a hard braker, and I don't ride the brake pedal. I also don't speed much on local streets, just on the highway where braking is infrequent, and I'd say about 85% of those miles were highway.
If you do mostly local driving, naturally you're using the brakes more. I have just developed driving habits that preserve my brakes, I guess.
My old civic has gone 165,000 miles on 3 sets of pads.
That said, I've never seen any car needing new brakes at 12k. I'd just get some good aftermarket pads and rotors and replace them myself.
