Access point in firewall to run wires?

Anyone have a good suggestion where to run wires from the engine compartment to the driver side cabin?

Remove top cover of cabin air intake..just lifts off..pull away from around hood seal...then 3 (or 4) clips to remove lower air intake enclosure...get as low as you can..can't recall if there is one more panel to remove or not..(screws) and at the bottom is where the main battery power cable and another loom comes though firewall...penetrate along side the rubber grommet as shown in this photos with the screwdriver...if I recall you can access this point on the inside by removing carpet..

I'm running wires for my new AL Priority laser diffuser.
Our cars are probably exactly the same.... The GL just has more booty!

Great choice...that is why I had mine apart..I placed the AL on the parcel shelf in glovebox..fuse panel on passenger side is handy but I finally ended up getting power from rear power outlet under center console...run to a dash switch to JTK..and allows to disable at will...also installed the Escort STiR + at same time...which BTW works well with the AL..

So you went with three in the back? What kind of laser systems hits you from the back in Canada?

Did you install it yourself? How did you run the wires to the rear tailgate?
I didn't buy the sensors for the rear yet as we don't have much in rear laser in NY.

How good is the system?

Yup 3 in rear..local boys use Dragon Eye guns (photolaser) off overpasses..nearly all laser is $$ generated and are rear setups..
Works stellar !! Best system out there.. 100% kills front and rear..visit here for more info..
http://radarandlaserforum.com/forum.php?

I installed the front myself and the lower rear myself..had a shop do tailgate as that's a trick to r/r tailgate cover...lower head I ran under vehicle to front passenger wheelwell and up to cpu..you will need extentions for rears BTW..

Nanook,

I have my sensors mounts in the front grill..

And the wiring is through the firewall to the glove box...I'm curious on how much pulling apart of interior pieces to get the power from the back seat socket to your unit?

it's fairly easy..not sure about your GL but in the ML...2 torx screws under removable mat front cubby of console and 2 screws under mat at bottom of inner console...lift up and back..I don't recall but I think I removed rear controls facia..then just lift rear console high enough to get access to the rear power plug wire..i used a tap to get power to the rocker switch I installed across from lighter on left side of ashtray..then chase wires to glovebox...you have to drop the passenger under side fascia to run wires and this is also where I installed the speaker..and this is the route I took to get to the ALP cpu I installed onto the inside passenger side of the console cubby..you have to run a ground wire from switch to ground also as switch has LED light and breaks/opens circuit for the ALP...the switch is very handy to simply kill the unit unpon laser encounter...you get lasered...slow down..hit switch and then they can get a read as slower speed...then just turn back on...as you know the the ALP is programmable to deactivate in "n"secs but I prefer to have that control

Here you see the switch I used and CPU installed with 3m tape
