I think you also commented on a similar thread in the GL forum. I had that idea based on comments from Fabbrisd1. He's mentioned the GLE Coupe being on a different chasis about 3x now in various threads. Check the end of post #45: https://mbworld.org/forums/gl-class-...-rumors-2.html

The 2016 GLE and the GLE Coupe have different wheelbase:
As for the wheelbase, it's been stretched from 114.8 inches to 121.0 inches

Really? A typo? A typo is usually a letter, a number or a perhaps a word and not a whole sentence saying "As for the wheelbase, it's been stretched from 114.8 inches to 121.0 inches, which should increase passenger room."

"the wheelbase of the new GLE class is much longer than the ML class because the wheelbase of the new GLE class is 121,0 inches, while the current ML’s wheelbase is only 114.8 inches. This additional length..."

Really?! Both articles from 2 different authors use the words "stretched" and "longer" and "additional length" and you are still saying typo or mistake? If the wheelbase had not changed there would be absolutely no need to use the words stretched or longer or additional when referring to the GLE wheelbase wouldn't you think?

It's definitely not a typo or mistake. They're making the ML roomier since the next gen GLC will grow in size. I would love it if MB makes a third row seating option for the GLE. The GL/GLS rides too big. Most of the GLE competitors have third row seating.

2015 ML 350 Gas(Polar White). 2015 ML 350 gas(Lunar Blue). 68 mustang
You are correct
ML- there is no change in the platform between the 2015 and 2016. Only a re-badge (GLE) and refresh (interior and exterior).
GLE- uses the same platform as the ML
In summary, there is no difference in the platform between any of the combinations listed above.

Exactly. Since I'm not an insider nor an "expert", I was going to wait until I go to NYIAS on Sunday to confirm 1st that the GLE's wheelbase stayed the same as the current ML (thus proving the above quoted atricle(s) incorrect). 2nd to also find out if the GLE and GLE Coupe ride on the same chasis or not. And honestly, I don't see either side of either argument as being something negative. The only thing I'm still hung up on is not having the 6 cylinder diesel in the US anymore!

I did read in Germany that the GLE coupe is based on the facelifted platform, but drivetrain components are different, possibly engine placement/mounts, etc.

A six inch wheelbase stretch for the GLE??? I'm not seeing it.
2013
2016
In contrast, a single glance at the bottom of the rear door of the GL, with the known longer wheelbase, shows an obvious difference in door length.

As I have stated in another thread, I was very anxiously awaiting the arrival of the GLE. I had ordered an ML 350 back in mid January that is due to be built this upcoming week. In short, I'm very happy staying with the ML I ordered. Here is why. Your opinion may vary, this is just my opinion.
I love the redesigned rear end, everything about it, from the redesigned tail lights to the exhaust in the bumper.
But that is literally the only thing I like about this redesign. I don't like the front end. I have watched several videos, not pictures, but videos. The 3 pointed star on the grille juts out at least 2 inches, it's not seamless with the front end. This is especially obvious when viewed from the side. Secondly, the scallups on the front lower corners of the front bumper have an odd appearance. If you view the vehicle directly from the front, it reminds me of a kid holding his breath and puffing out his cheeks. That's what the lower scallups on the front bumper look like to me, when viewed directly from the front. They have enlarged them, giving the appearance I described.
The interior is very similar to the current ML with the exception of the large screen on the dash. To me, it just looks like the designers forgot to add the screen and at the last minute tacked it on top of the dash and pushed the vents further to the side. Again, not a seamless appearance.
So to me, I'm very happy that I ordered the ML 350 and I plan to stick with that vehicle. Maybe these oddities on the redesign will grow on me over time or maybe there will be a completely new version by the time I'm ready to buy again.

So where's your fact checking? Here's some, Mercedes coupes ride on a shorter length chassis:
S-Class Sedan - 124.6
S-Class Coupe - 115.9
E-Class Sedan - 113,2
E-Class Coupe - 108.7
C-Class Sedan - 111.8
C-Class Coupe - 108.7
and now as reported:
GLE SUV - 121.0
GLE Coupe - 114.8
S-Class Sedan - 124.6
S-Class Coupe - 115.9
E-Class Sedan - 113,2
E-Class Coupe - 108.7
C-Class Sedan - 111.8
C-Class Coupe - 108.7
and now as reported:
GLE SUV - 121.0
GLE Coupe - 114.8
WOW, you guys are still arguing about the wheelbase length of the GLE vs the GLE Coupe? They are the same vehicle, same wheelbase!!!!
Mercedes' coupes ride on short wheelbases????? OMG guys, those are real coupes, not a 4-door posing as a real coupe.
That wheelbase is from the GL, not the GLE or GLE Coupe. You guys really can't be limited.
Think people, why would MB stretch the wheelbase of the ML/GLE to match the GL????

To speculate on your question "why would MB stretch the wheelbase of the ML/GLE to match the GL????", perhaps the wheelbase of the GLS with be stretched in the future. I don't know and you don't know.

Seems like you're also part of the "guys ... still arguing". Hey, if you already convinced then you don't need to participate. I only posted what was reported to Auto Journalist. You may be correct, so you need to ask them why Mercedes gave them wrong info? I'm quite sure they didn't decide to make it up on their own.

Many posters here are enthusiaists that share our passion for nice cars. I can see that you are a passionate enthusiast as well. But slow down a bit, especially when trying to get facts from the internet. This is a mix of facts, opinions, mis-information, and misleading people - it can be hard to find the truth. I think in this case a simple mistake was repeated, and it will be cleared soon. Who knows, when MB releases final specs for the GLE maybe it will be 121 inches, but the evidence doesn't support that.
My question for you is - are you interested in a GLE63 to add to your AMG stable? I am thinking of getting one if I can convince my wife to trade her Cayenne S for one. I really don't like the Cayenne.

It's a simple facelift, nothing else.
