GLE Coupe

I read somewhere that the U.S. will only get the AMG versions of the GLE Coupe. Is this true ?

I read that a V6, would be the base model so I assume that is the one for America and I also assume it is non-AMG. The one not coming to the US is the diesel version, at least not at first.

The V6 is called the GLE 400 and is a pretty stout engine in its own right with twin turbos. I could be wrong but I think the 450 is the new AMG sport version (the lowest end of AMG) and, eventually, there will be the potent GLE 63 which is the true AMG variant. I am interested in buying this vehicle, or at the least, taking a good look at it but I sure don't need an AMG. So I hope the 400 does come to America as that is all the power I need - and more!

month old thread, but the GLE COUPE will come in GLE450 (biturbo V6 motor, 4MATIC only) and the AMG 63 S-Model....

The GLE will come in:
GLE300d 4MATIC (diesel)
GLE350 4MATIC (V6 gas)
GLE350 (V6 gas)
GLE400 4MATIC (biturbo V6 gas)
GLE63 AMG
GLE63 S AMG

I really think that it MAY confuse some people that there is a GLE and then a GLE Coupe...very similar to having an S550 and S550 Coupe. The biggest difference is that the GLE will be 300, 350, 400, and 63; the GLE Coupe will be 450 or 63 only

Is the GLE 450 coupe considered AMG? Not like the full AMG 63 of course but is it considered one of those new AMG-lite packages perhaps?

Yes, AMG Sport, not a full on AMG model.

^^this

Mercedes-Benz is changing things up a little. Imagine a pyramid with 3 levels going up toward the top. The bottom level, the biggest level, is Mercedes-Benz passenger cars/SUVs. The middle level and slightly smaller is Mercedes-Benz AMG Sports cars. This will be the C450, GLE Coupe, etc. The top of the pyramid, and smallest section, is what will now be known as Mercedes-AMG. This will be the handbuilt motors that people have come to know about AMG.

That being said, there will be 3 different 'circles.' One is Mercedes-Benz, one is Mercedes-Maybach, and the other is Mercedes-AMG. The S600 Maybach is already in production with some deliveries under its belt. There is also STRONG rumor and all but done deal that the GLS will also come in an extended form: GLS Maybach.

AMG badging will move from right side of rear deck lids/trunks over to left side. There will be some slight modification in badging that will be new to people. Mercedes-Benz AMG sports cars (GLE Coupe, C450, etc) will produce more power than the passenger lines, have heavily influenced AMG styling and design, but not quite the power of, nor the actual process, of 'one man, one engine' handbuilt motors...

No, AMG wheels and body kit does not make an AMG. Quite why Mercedes sell a non AMG and advertise it as an AMG beats me, why cant they just advertise it as a Sport.

Not at present. The GLE400 will be the 'in-between' of the GLE350 and GLE63 AMG. Currently, the only 'AMG Sport' models are GLE Coupe and C450...I am guessing there will be more models to come...

Why not go with Burmester all along since the launch of S class? I believe it is more appealing to eyes and ears than the dated B&O / HK.

Apologies for off topic.
