It sure seems like the laser has quite the range, almost looked like the cop was about an 1/8th of a mile away

Yeah, that was surprising as well.
I'm terrible for saying this, but I still get a smile when I think of all the cops out there who were diagnosed with testicular cancer due to them keeping the old radar guns down between their knees 'till the last moment before zapping motorists.
It ain't right and I wish no harm, but the irony of it all...LOL
