Running board lights
Does anyone know how to get to access the running board lights? I have a couple that are out on my 2013 w166. I feel like an idiot, I can't find a way to access them to replace.

Stainless steel running board is fastened to a support structure underneath it. Remove the running board and you will have access to the lights. They are a single module on each side so you will have to replace the light bar.

The LEDs are able to be removed individually but Mercedes does not sell them individually. An entire kit must be bought for $625 but it is covered under warranty. The question is what to do after warranty expires?? Buy an entire kit to replace one LED?? Unacceptable.

I have one that went out, and it's not covered by the CPO warranty. Dealer said about $600 to replace. Does anyone know the part number for the light strip? Dealer said MB may have sold individual replacement bulbs in the past, but wasn't sure.

Don’t know if they sell individually but I can say on my originals, I had a bunch that went out. They replaced the whole thing (under warranty as the car was pretty new) and have yet to have an issue with 90k+ miles and living in a very snowy state.

if you unlock/lock from remote, they will turn on and will stay on for about 10-30 seconds then they'll turn off.
if your car is unlocked or are moving things back and forth, the interior lights will turn off after a certain amount of time, and they will stay on for a little while after
i believe they are motion activated too, but they will only do that in very rare situations
