Anyone know how to remove seat adjuster buttons?

Hi all

Anyone know how to remove the black plastic seat adjuster buttons on a 2013 ML class? I want to replace with the silver ones from the GLE to modernise the look of them and dont want to pull and break them?

Thanks

Carl

I did a quick Google and came up with this link, albeit an older MB... same buttons though!

Fig 14 suggests using 2 small screwdrivers to pry off button heads. That would have been my best guess anyway....
good luck, and feed back as too whether the switch breaks... LOL!
I went into my WIS, but couldn't find anything to remove buttons.... it won't dig down that far!

I would bet you the seat control is one assembly and it will be very hard to replace individual buttons. I would see if the assembly is interchangeable.

I have to agree with 'Dieseldoc', will probably be hard to remove. Another thought would be to remove switch unit, tape off plate and spray knobs with plastic chrome paint. Sounds a bit cheesy, but the plastic chrome paint comes out pretty well with modeling....! Read the instructions... you will probably need a plastic primer.

I believe you would use a plastic prying tool and the seat adjustment controls should pry off, it is sort of risky since you have to pry to the point where it feels like you are breaking it. An easier solution is the stick on type, here is a thread on the subject.

Actually, I have replaced mine with the newer style. I removed the old knobs by prying them off with a prying tool. There are little tabs within the knobs. Worst that can happen if, that you break the tabs on the knob. Since you are replacing them anyway it does not matter.

Hope this helps.
