I have to replace windshield for my 2015 ML350 due to chip and small crack. My insurance does not cover OEM and have to pay the difference.

I called dealer and they gave me quote of $970 excluding labor. I have to labor department to get quote for labor as part department would not give quote for labor cost! I am waiting for labor quote but meanwhile I googled the Part number: 166-670-10-01 and it shows Part Notes:MERCEDES W/O TV TUNER, W/O NIGHT VISION W/BLIND SPOT.

1) How do I know if my windshield is acoustic?

2) I know I have rain sensor but the part description does not indicate it.

3) When I look in Safelite site, I get below options which looks very confusing:

4) I see the Garage opener, SOS are attached to the windshield from inside. Do I need to be aware of specific type of windshield glass due to this ?

Had two windshields replaced - both by dealer. I was covered by insurance, but quoted cost was ~ $1200 w/ labor. However, my NightView camera required calibration.

Safelite should ask what options your ML has when you call. Every ML has a rain sensor. Lane Departure is another sensor. NightView is another. If you don't have Lane Departure or NightView, it shouldn't be difficult.

The mirror housing (rear view mirror, cameras, and SOS) is not part of the windshield, but make sure Safelite doesn't knock any sensors loose.

Safelite should know what windshield you have by VIN. If not, call the MB dealer to verify. Many dealers sub-let glass work. You could ask who does their glass and call them direct.

So I got cost for labor for windshield replacement and its $950 so total cost would $1929 !!

Safelite estimate is $970 so I would go with Safelite instead and hope for the best. They did mention that I have to take to dealer for recalibrating the forward facing camera, not sure how much dealer would charge for this !

Here is the part number indicated in safelite order form: "FW03546 GTYOEM" ...not sure what this means as I googled and no results found. Although safelite customer service person confirmed that this is OEM.

I had my windshield replaced after a stone hit it and it cracked at 1100 miles:-( It was done at my local dealer. The windshield was $750 (P/N 166 670 10 01) and the installation was $240. The installation labor is their standard charge for windshield installation. I recently had them replace the windshield in my son's C43; the labor charge was the same. The tech at the dealer has been doing them for 20 years and they never screw the job up.
