Park, & all Other Assists Non Functional
2015 ML350 BT (50k KMs)
Just arrived in FL from a road trip from Canada... Today, go to start the car.. get a menu of assists not working( takes 10min to OK/clear all messages) All the idiot lights are still lit up. The menu of troubles starts with Park Assist, then about 5 others, including Distronic, Lane Change, etc. It almost seems as if a sensor is screwy, and taking everything down that may be associated with all the Assist functions? Anyone experience something like this before I run to the dealer? Bumper/radar sensor water-logged? I did try start stop several times today to see if it would clear up, no go... Tried SEARCH, didn't find anything, although maybe I didn't use exact wording...

Hi, and thanks for all your thoughts.... The dealer called back later today. Apparently the fault lies in 1 of the wheel sensors!!! Ordered in for tomorrow, all will be good. So, to sum up, if your dash turns into a Christmas tree, it may be a wheel sensor. The dealer suggested when the dash is 'lit' up, time to verify wheel sensors, as he has seen a number of these. So, we're trying out a loaner E class.... just as well as my wife is looking to update her car! LOL! That, and the car ML will be nice & clean after our long haul from Canada.

No weird noises beforehand...! Basically long drive to FL, no indications whatsoever. Unload at Condo... next am wife goes to grocery store, backs out of parking, and then the Christmas tree! I guess the wheel sensor just retired!!!

A bit more to this saga. Dealer called back, as the tech was installing new wheel sensor, to say that something must have been kicked up during our road trip, because the wiring harness associated with wheel sensor was cut/sliced, and actually shorting out the system. New harness ordered, supposed to be installed and ready this afternoon! I'm guessing when the tech did his diag, the car never made it to his lift, just plugged in his reader and, OH needs a sensor!!! Anyway, all on warranty!

Well, this 'episode' continues.... dealer received wrong harness???( was for pad sensors) Apparently the 'right' harness is one that will require a total teardown of the car to replace. Not going to happen on my watch!!! Anyway, they've found the right connector needed, air freighted it in for tomorrow am and will splice it in to the existing harness. I'm not going to have anyone tear my car apart for a simple connector. I will insist on viewing the splicing work before accepting (I started work life as a Splicer for Bell Canada back in the day) won't accept any BS work! This is starting to wear on me....

Lot's of things like this on our 350ML have me worn down and fed up with MB. Will never have another one and will be trading this one in soon on a Honda Ridgeline. Always had good service from our Honda Pilot and Element and really like the new Ridgeline.
