MISSING KEYLESS-GO BUTTON

Hello! I just bought a 2012 S550 a few days ago. When I ran the VIN in a decoder it said I have option 889 for Keyless-GO. However, the car did not come with the button. Can I just buy any MB Keyless-GO button from eBay or does it have to be brand new from the dealer? Also, would it require any type of programming? Thanks!

This is deja vu. I think there were two similar questions this week???

Just buy the button from the MB dealer or from Ebay for $35 or so...stick it in the ignition and you'll be ready to go.

It seems most of the Ebay listings mention it's for a 2014....will they work for a 2013?

I tested the button from a 2014 ML350 in my 2007 S550 and it worked just fine

If you look at the part number and it starts with a 221 you should be fine. I think the same button was used across multiple platforms as xpl0sive seems to have confirmed.

Thanks fellas. I kind of thought it would work, however, the fact the Ebay postings didn't mention years before 2014, had me a little unsettled.

Mikhail ... did you get this to work for you? I bought a button on ebay that does not work even though it came in official OEM packing?

thanks
