Yesterday I special ordered my 2015 S550 with a customized designo interior. I am very excited as I think this car is going to be the nicest Mercedes I have had yet.

The wait is going to be very difficult but I know it will be worth it.

I have a production slot for May but I am told it is going to be pushed back 6-8 weeks to accommodate the custom order.

I have always wanted a dark brown interior and I am thankful that MB has decided they are doing custom orders in MY2015.

I've been down this "wait" road before and it is not fun but always worth it in the end.

Both MB corporate and my dealer, MB of San Francisco, have been great in helping me secure this car.

That's an incredible build. Of all the options you ordered, the one I will miss on mine is the HUD. Damn, I wish that was available for the 2014 S.

Well, after posts and PM's with and by other members of this forum and some help from outside sources, I changed my original post because I changed my build.

Here is what I did:

1. Eliminated the SplitView screen. Very cool but don't want the reduced resolution.
2. Added the refrigerator in the rear center console.
3. Because of adding the refrigerator, I was forced to eliminate the 137 Comfort Box.

This should be it.

How much boot space will the 3D sound system and fridge take up? Will the boot be significantly smaller?

So, with those 2 and the rear seat package, do you know how much of the 530l will remain? Do you think it would create a situation where the S would stay at home for journeys containing lots of baggage?

Not sure what you mean by 530l as that sounds like the other guys. But with the S class, it really depends on the size of your luggage.

The other thing is that the refrigerator can easily be removed for long trips. It is just plugged in electrically and the box is held in by two screws, one on each side.

I know that the S is susceptible to larger, hard cases (w221 owner) and I wondered if you'd considered the impact of trunk space with those options. Also, does the fridge offer a different function to the cooler box in the centre console?

Today I was working on finalizing my interior with MB corporate. They are incredible to work with and this has been a wonderful experience.

They are doing some very special things to my leather and patterns. It is truly going to be unique.

Can't wait for the car to get here!

As my kids would tell me, this car is going to be "sick."

Very cool! Are you getting the extended cross-stiching pattern where the the same design carries into the seams and piping? (not sure how to call it)

I am getting my special order color as contrasting piping on the dash and doors, and black piping on the seats. I am also getting my special ordered color, Auburn Brown, on the doors in patterns that are different than what you get in either the standard designo and the Exclusive Nappa patterns. The floor mats will have my special order color as contrasting edging.

I love your color combination. I am in the process of putting together an order for a MY15 S550 4Matic. My dealer does not know much about the custom order process. Who did you deal with at corporate? How much additional did the custom
interior cost?

I finalized my interior today and made changes to the above. While I loved the new leather pattern on the door panels I decided that it was not as sleek as the standard designo and Exclusive Nappa layouts so I changed it back. Still going to have custom piping on the seats, doors and dash but the leather patterns are going to look more like this.

This weekend I noticed the 2015 pricing started to be populated into Netstar. The base price has not been listed but all the option pricing has now shown up.

No price increases in 2015 for options. Still no price on the base cars. The $99,999 is a placeholder. Two prices are not shown. The 021 code is for my custom interior and the 61U is the Dinamica Headliner. Not sure why 61U is not there yet.

$150,000 for an S Class. That has to be the most on the forum. You vanquished us all! I can't wait to see the pictures when it arrives! You are going to LOVE it.

Chucky, remember, the $150,000 includes the place holder of the base car at $99,999 which it will not be. The present base is $92,900 so I suspect the 2015 will be a couple of percent more possibly. Then, they will add the cost of 61U and my 021 custom interior so my price will go up.

Definitely the best equipped W222 S550 I have seen and the first custom Designo! Stunning car! Can't wait to see the first pics and hear your thoughts on the car.
Given the interior upgrades, the only option I could think of between this and the 600/65 models would be the leather headliner.
