Thank you mbusa

Order new s class last week, got a great discount but the md dealer told me i would have to pickup the car from them and then ship it out to my other home in az. I had asked they have the factory ship the car directly to az to save me money and hassle.
Then i learned the prepaid maintenance was going up before the car was going to arrive.
So i emailed the ceo of mbusa. Got a call back the same nite from his people and explained my frustration.
Next morning got a call from mbusa saying it was all taken care of and to contact my selling dealer's sales manager.
My sales person called me back before i called them and said to give him the name of two mb dealers near me in az and they will take care of having it delivered to az from factory and work out the prepaid maintenance without cost increase.
Thank you mbusa!
I also bought a lottery ticket to see if I'm on a streak.

In working with MBUSA on my custom ordered car I have found them to be great to work with and very responsive. They seem to really care about their customers.

Glad everything got worked out for you.

typically they seem to really care until you have a major issue.

7 speed issues
m156 head bolts, cams, etc.
211 fuel tank issues
m273 chain drive

then its, "too bad, so sad, its normal, not our problem, etc"

Please can you share a bit more details on your delivery arrangement?

Would it be safe to assume the following?
  1. Your car goes from VPC directly to a local dealer in AZ
  2. Your local AZ dealer accepts the delivery, signs the paperwork and preps the car for you
  3. MD dealer gets paid by MBUSA for landing the transaction
  4. AZ dealer gets nothing ($$$-wise) from you, but somehow they negotiate between MBUSA and MD as to who covers the cost of the work they did on your vehicle prior to you taking delivery
  5. All parties (MD, AZ dealers and MBUSA) are happy, and there is no room for them to screw up anything
I'm also dealing with an out-of-state dealer, and your response will help determine the correct course of actions, and will be appreciated.

Md dealer was telling me they couldnt get the factory to deliver to az. Told me to have the car shipped from md.
I emailed mbusa ceo mr. Cannon and he turned it over to a problem solver. I would think dealer prep would go to az dealer. Still not totally informed which dealer in az yet. Md dealer has to contact them to work it out.
To me this is no different than euro delivery. People buy euro del from a dealer he gets the factory to ship it where you need it when you are finished. Just dealers dont like to do this without a push.
I have to do paperwork for finance w md dealer yet. Car will be tagged in md.

It's called a courtesy delivery. That is how those of us that purchased a car from Herbert in Escondido get local delivery all over the US. The one difference is that the car does not go to the selling dealer plus Euro delivery but why would it be different. I'm not sure why the MD dealer thought they could not do a courtesy delivery to AZ. But I may not have all the info. Car should go straight to AZ dealer via West coast VPC. You may have to do something different if you want the car registered in AZ as far as sales tax, title, etc.

Car will be tagged and titled in md. Better rates than az. The dealer just had to be shown what a courtesy delivery is. I agree it is no different than euro delivery. You are correct that it just might take a little longer to west coast.

Az= over 9% sales tax and renewal of tags are about 1100.00 per year! Found that out on the last 221 mercedes.
Md= 6 % sales tax and tags are about 300.00 or less for two years.
Go figure.

WOW! Makes Pennsylvania's annual tags/registration of $36 look like the cost of a "chip" of a penny. Of course our real estate taxes are out of this world so they get you one way or the other.

In California, they get you one way or the other and every way upside and down.

Plot thickens with bump in the road.
Mbusa and the dealer didn't get the car shipped to arizona as promised. car arrives in baltimore 9-29. dealer and mbusa called and they are shipping car out to arizona on their dime from md. at least i get to see the car before i fly out to az on 10-11. hate the idea of a shipper handling the car but didnt need the hassle of driving it cross country.
next get a clearbra and windows tinted.
