S550 coupe (I saw it in person) thread!

Ok, I first have to say I don't like this car in photos. Honestly, it's always looked bland to me, reminding me of the old Lincoln mark 8 from the back, and was too rounded, no emotion, a larger CLA, etc... This car didn't really excite me, until I saw in person today...
The older I get, the less impressed I get. It's pretty awesome and I'm glad it looks 10 times better in person.
I'm standing there, looking at the car, and then start taking some photos. I'm trying to capture how my eyes see the car, then I look at the photos I just took, and it doesn't look good I've had this happen with other cars, and this is just one that needs the right angle when taking pics. I will post a few pics soon, but again, the exterior doesn't look like it does in person... The optional Swarovski headlights were actually cool and detailed looking. I used to love the last Q45 gatling gun headlights.
This was a S550 coupe, not a S63. Interior was designo red/black with piano finish trim and was gorgeous. The rear of the car is very wide. The rear fenders have some girth and blend up into the rear side of the trunk with some heft, pretty ballsy.
Now I can relax that Mercedes didn't just screw up a flagship car, just in photos.

Having seen it in person, I think it's a great looking car.
However the red interior is definitely not my choice,
and tbh, being 30k or so more than the sedan, makes it a stupid choice imho. why get 2 less doors, sacrifice passenger comfort for not much gain?

When I saw the Edition 1 model at my local dealership, I was surprised I liked the rear-end as well as I did...I'm talking about the view directly from the back where you see the side bulges (or "muscles" as some designers say) and how the roof tapers at the top.
Always liked the side profile and front.
As for the complaint about the pricing vs the sedan...would this car be as sexy if any ***hole could afford one? :-)

I think the red interior in the Edition One models is all there is currently to look at...outside of a car show.
BTW...are the Moderators here going to start a new Forum specifically for the S-Class Coupe? Customers will start taking delivery soon.

I'd much prefer a silk beige/porcelain-black, just not a fan of the red.

I agree completely, I'm only 25, and single, so I don't exactly have the ability to have multiple cars. I'm also 6ft9in and 420lbs, so space is always great imho.
Hehe, well its definitely exclusive, I probably would've considered one if it was the same price as the sedan, however, the practicality of 2 extra doors, and more space, was a no brainer.
I presume the Edition One is the model that the dealers are getting? I saw one at my dealer that had the red interior.

I saw one the other day at the dealer and was not impressed. I honestly thought it was a CLA until I got right up to it maybe the S63 will be a little more appealing.

Euro Cars Only
I first saw the S coupe earlier this year at the Geneva Auto Show. Yes it is a beautiful car but why does it look like a cheap Renault Laguna Coupe? Now for you Americans, you probably don't know anything about it as it's a French car but just take a look. BTW they are everywhere

The specific model I posted can be yours fully equipped for 37k after conversion from Euro to $. I think it only comes in Diesel though...

Every time a new car comes out, people seem to bring out a pice from another car that at one angle seems similar. Reminds me of people saying that the new Mustang looks just like a BMW...
