Escort Passport 9500ix radar detector & transponder not working in 2015 S63 AMG

My Escort Passport 9500ix radar detector as well as the transponder that gets me into my gate will not work correctly in my S63 regardless of how I position them. I have tried several positions all over both windshield areas that are designated for this type of usage. I understand that the windshield/windows have a coating to prevent certain things like infrared from getting into the car but this is a major problem. I literally have to roll my window down to use my transponder and my radar barely beeps at all when getting a direct radar hit.

Any ideas/solutions? I wonder if Mercedes sells replacement glass without this terrible coating. I am not going to do one of the integrated/custom installed radar detectors and, even if I did, it wouldn't help the transponder problem.

Have you tried to position it next to the rear view mirror just to the right of the camera ? That is where my transponder is and seems to work fine.

My Escort Passport Max's GPS won't work in my S550 but my Escort 9500ix does. I have it mounted at the lowest center part of the dash behind the windshield cut out.

Your transponder should work when mounted on the upper cutout passenger side.

Your transponder issue if it continues to be a problem needs to be brought up to the issuing authority for an alternative remedy.

I have tried everything you just said except a different transponder. I will try that now. I still have no workable radar detector situation no matter where I put it.

I got a brand new transponder and it still did not work at all at either windshield position.

When you say your Escort 9500ix isn't working, I'm assuming you mean the GPS part of it and that you're still receiving radar warnings.

Go to the Escort Site post your detector's issues and you should get a reply from an Escort representative shortly. He may ask to send your detector in and they'll cover the shipping.

I am not getting GPS or the warnings. This is a car issue not a radar issue. Wish it was the other way around...

My Escort Passport Max's GPS function will not work either but the radar detector function does work great in my '14 S550 4matic. I have mine positioned in the middle of the windshield at the lowest possible point where the cutout is located that allows infrared through the windshield. The GPS function does not work which is a bummer--I cannot find out where the speed traps are since the GPS function does not work on the radar detector.

I wish I even just had the basic detection but I have tried all positions with mine over the course of 1000 miles of driving.

Just curious--do you have the heated windshield option?

I have about 15,000 miles on my S class and my radar detector, with the exception of the GPS function, has worked great since I purchased the car new.

I am at a loss too. Mercedes is researching it for me too. At first I thought it was my radar or transponder but after trying so many different things it seems that it is the car.

My buddy drives a 335i and has the transponder in his grille and ran a wire to the instrument cluster so when there is a cop the whole instrument cluster flashes blue. I think it was about 500 to install. Maybe something to consider? I have no idea the specifics on how to get it done.

Put the car in the sun, and look at the windshield from different angles from the front of the hood. Do you see the cutouts? You should be able to if they are there. I can see mine.

I've got the same coating on my R-Class windshield and this is what I do. When going through a toll or needing to use my transponder I hold it up to the pano roof since there's no coating there. I don't know what your transponder looks like but it might be a possibility to mount it to the front of your pano roof. For the radar I have it mounted in the lowest center part of the windshield (Escort Max 1) and it will pick things up but GPS is intermittent.

Always funny when the person asking for free help gets snappy

Yes, I read your posts, and I have seen a S windshield that left the factory with no cutouts whatsoever

So, my question was very specific. I know you put the transponder where the manual tells you to put it, but my question was to confirm if you physically see the cutouts

I always ran a Valentine 1 in my cars (Even a 2011 W221). But with my W222 it did not perform well. While front detection was fine, side and rear were terrible (placed on right side of RVM in cut out). I ended up installing a Beltronics Stir Plus, no complaints so far. The GPS module is on the front dash under the cut out on the bottom of the windshield.

For my EZTag transponder I went with the license plate version (long plastic bar that attached to the 2 upper screws on the front plate) but since I do not like front license plates I installed it behind the front grill and it works great.

I fought with MB on this for months and finally sold the car. Ridiculous. I think it is in all S classes...
