S63 Owner To Be

Can someone check VIN's or history through MB dealer (VMI?).

I'm looking at this S63, about to put a deposit on it, but, need to do VMI check. Carfax comes out clean, but I read countless pages of W222 TSB's and recalls, and the MB website says the vin is invalid. Looks like a bug on the website.

If so, I'll PM you.

Congrats

If you don't completely trust this dealer yet, ask for the VMI when you're there in person and look at it on the actual computer

I've only had one dealer outright refuse to show me (half said no when first asked until they see it is a deal breaker), so had another dealer pull it for me and was clearly a problem vehicle

I am taking it to Rodney Herson Automotive in Dallas on Tuesday. He apparently was a MB tech and split to start his own shop. Their specialty is Mercedes, and Brenda, the office administrator stated "Rodney checks the car over like he is purchasing it for himself". Mercedes Benz Plano doesn't do PPI, and can't recommend anyone, but told me to take it to him, ha!

Deposit was put down today. I like Crockett from Dallas Auto Exchange. He spent 90 minutes with us, we walked around and looked at all of his cars he's selling. Great selection, great person, very respectful. Test drive was good, I romped it a little and it did go.

If it checks out Tuesday, it'll be mine. I paid a little more than I wanted to, but, its pretty well optioned for what I like, and in my color scheme.

I love it. Car picked up today at 4. This is a way better purchase than some of the other vehicles we've purchased recently.

Wow!!

Well, lowering links have been installed. I didn't realize eBay had decent ones for ~$100. I ordered them from adjustable air ride. Install took 30 min for all 4 corners. I didn't have to remove any wheels and just used a floor jack. I set the link, matched the other link to it, and installed. I ended up having to adjust the rear driver link to a longer setting than the rear passenger by 1 thread pitch, strange but it sits more balanced now.

New tires are here, new wheels arrive Thursday, and I should have them on by Saturday. I also debadged the rear and then polished it up. No evidence of old badges. Car is really becoming mine.

All silver and chrome will be wrapped in 2 weeks

Ecu received from eurocharged. Plugged it in, turns on the the car, most electrical systems failed. Nervous, I pulled the car out of the driveway. Turned it off. Found a guide to "reset" ecu by putting car to run (engine off), floor the pedal for five seconds, turn off, release pedal, wait 2 minutes.

Turned t back on, no electrical faults, let the drive begin.

It's fun, I think it's different. It feels faster than my supercharged 2014 jeep SRT I just sold, but not as fast as the hellcat (not expecting it to be that fast). All in all, I think it is faster. I only drove the car 200 miles before sending ecu out, so, not a lot of memory of the dynamics of the car prior to tune.

Wheels came in, I didn't like the tire size so I ordered a different set. They should be on the car tomorrow and hopefully I can redial in the suspension.

Love this car!!

Interested in your thoughts after a while. I'm thinking of getting one.

Any plans for radar/laser detector?

I will update with pictures tonight. I am a V1 user, own 4 or 5 of them. The arrows are a must. I will hardwire it shortly.

i've only driven about 10 miles. in my experience with new ECU tunes, you need to drive quite a bit on the reflash to let the trans re learn shift points with new power and torque.

I think that's a different question

On my other cars with crap stock shift points, I've found a tune immediately fixes the drive, no more hunting for gears, jerks, etc

I think he's asking the same, did you find the tune made it a smoother drive given the AMGs reputation for being jerky at low speeds

see below.

Specs are as follows:

Front:

Niche M117 21x9, et38, w/ 7mm spacers
Michelin 265/35/21 tires

Rear:
Niche M117 21x10.5, et45 w/ 3mm spacers
Pirelli P Zero Nero 305/30/21 tires.

Lowered on links. Needs to be lower but right now no rubbing so not interested in pushing it.

Now working out kinks with TPMS. 2 wheels work 2 dont, brand new sensors.

i've only driven a few miles. my wife has driven more and noticed no difference in driveability, which is a good thing. she freaks about the littlest things. she doesn't really do spirited driving like myself though.

i'll know more after this week. i have some visits around the metroplex that will add up to a few hours of driving and few hundred miles.

Patrick was quick to email and communicate. i think its quite a bit faster, somewhere between my supercharged jeep and hellcat which i just sold both of them. that sort of acceleration and torque feeling i have now would be accurate to the new power levels and power:weight ratio.

i will take it to Cobb Tuning and have it dyno'd probably next week. I traded a few messages with another M157 owner (e63s) that is local to DFW, and he said nothing but positive things after about 2500 miles.

I originally was hooked on doing AMS but they seem too busy and if I have problems, Eurocharged is way closer to me than AMS in chicago.

Good news, too, is a new MB dealer opens next month a few miles from me, which helps a lot with service, questions, etc. I'm hoping they appreciate the car.

pictures of car as purchased. it looks WAY better lowered and with the 21" wheels. I can't stand the silver lip on these AMG black wheels. They're for sale for a smokin' deal, too, fyi.
