VIN Number Doesn't Match Car - SCAM!
I have a vin number of WDDUG8CB5FA196857 which says the color of the car is silver. Yet, the car is white. Could anyone help me figure this out? It is a 2015 s550 (w222). Are the online database not correct?

What database are you looking at? Sounds like this is not your car but is at a dealer. How do you know it is white and not silver?

I checked mercedesvin.com, carinfo.com, and I even called MB of USA. All confirmed that it is a 2015 s550 iridium silver. But the dealer showed me 15+ pictures of the car which is a diamond white. Very odd, indeed. The car is located out of state.

According to the MB Electronic Parts Catalog it is Silver. So either the car has been repainted (possible but unlikely) or the dealer is showing you the wrong pictures. That VIN was manufactured as Iridium Silver.

This is a dealer flim-flam or at least a huge mistake on the dealer's part. Man, develop a relationship with a LOCAL MB dealer. Become a truly VALUED customer. At that point, you will receive the best deals on the best cars and you won't have to worry about "out of state" dealers messing with you. Just sayin.

I just received an email with the actual picture of the VIN sticker. Take a look. The plot thickens because this dealer has been around since 1983. He is not an authorized MB dealer. I wonder why the zoomed in picture has the round sticker and the zoom out does not? Regardless, the paint color is diamond white. Could this be a Chinese knock off s550?
Can anyone explain this? The car is manufactured in 7/14 but put into service around 5/16. Where was it for a whole year and now has less than 6K miles?

RUN AWAY from this dealer as quick as you can!!!
Someone did a hell of a job in photo shopping that picture. That VIN number does not belong to that car. The car with that VIN number was manufactured in 5/15. I have owned S Class cars for over 20 years. Those pictures/VIN are fake. Or should I say they "appear" to be fake.

I know. Is there any slim chance that was a screw up? Even if it is a screw up, there is no way MB is going to honor the warranty, right? What is fishy is the the round sticker in one photo and not in the other. Still, the color leaves me scratching my head.
If you look closely, the 6857 is not align with the rest of the number. SCAM . . . .

Check out this elaborate Scam:
http://www.lincolnavenuemotors.com/
I checked the VIN number on the the BMWs and they don't match up either. I checked the WhoIS database and the domain was recently registered. I checked various business directories and registery, and there was a business called Lincoln Avenue or Havelock Avenue at the listed address, but a google map shows no dealer of such granted that it is about 4 years old map. But if the business existed since 1983, the image still does not add up.
Thanks you'll. Scams are getting more elaborate by the day.

That website looks suspicious to me. Click on contact and there is no street address just the city and state.
