The 7 Series is to similar to the old one, the S class although 3 years old it still looks way better and newer.

I was holding out until April 29th to order the 18 S class, but i drove the 7 this weekend and it is a lot of fun to drive. I think I will order the 7. Interior is more modern and fresh to me and the idrive system seems easier and more intuitive than mercedes u/i. I have more room in the s550 and it is an exceptional luxury vehicle, but it does not bring a smile to my face when i drive it. I also like to hold a gear shift lever when I drive (out of habit) -bmw has one for me; mercedes does not, so i need to buy the bmw.

I drove the new 7 for a weekend before deciding on my S. The adaptive cruse was the only thing better on the 7 imo. The two biggest negatives I had for the 7 were the interior design, nothing elegant about it, and the suspension, in comfort mode which I was why I was buying this class of car, was just not as balanced, felt even sloppy and had a weird double bounce in it when going over small bumps while driving slow.

Too Many
I've owned both new 7, 2015 S550 Sedan and currently have S550 2016 Coupe I just bought.

Really depends on what you like. I think the 7 appeals to a younger crowd, the S to an older crowd. They each had pros and cons to me. I'd buy another 7 again but they both tank depreciation wise.

As as to 'still the leader', technically on units sold yes. But percentages are dropping to 7 series huge gains.
