Thinking of buying our second Mercedes. I am weighing the S550 with sports package vs the S63 . Thoughts? Also , should I wait for whatever charges come in 18. Thanks in advance.

The sport package compliments the already great looks of the w222 but the S63 takes looks and performance to an entirely new level....for an additional ~$45'ish thousand.

Wrt to the 18 vs 17 question....if you are into the latest greatest technology I understand the 2018 is coming out with some significant changes in technology. 48v battery, Tesla like auto drive, new lights up front, etc... I considered waiting but took the $15k of sticker last month and couldn't be happier.

If you're willing to lose serious $$ grab AMG, if not the answer is obvious.

I never do the wait for next year as that never ends.

what is more important to you? Sport package is purely cosmetic. S63 is higher performance. If all you want is looks go with sport package. Also AMG cars cost more to maintain. I almost got a cpo s63 but went with a new s550 lease. 2018 comes in a few months and 2017 will get big discounts probably. So if you are not in a hurry you can wait and see the 2018s and go with the new refresh 2018 or get a nice discount on a 2017. I was gonna wait but got a very good deal on a new 2016 lease thanks to a member on here referring me to his dealership.

My 2015 S550 is so frigging quick and fast, that I just can't imagine any sane, law abiding person opting for an S63. Whenever I see someone driving an S63 or 65, I just laugh. Just another guy buying into the "mine's bigger than yours" grade school taunt.
