How old do you have to be to work at a bank?

..How old do you have to be to work at a bank? Everyone tells me you have to be 18, but one of my friends works at Bank 1 and he is only 16? Can they even legally hire you at 16?

I guess it depends on the position. I don't see why a temporary filing clerck could not be 17.

I believe, at least here in Texas, you can legally work full-time at age 16.

yes, generally 16, but even so, local laws usually will restrict hours, place
conditions, and limitations on scope of work that can be assigned to the
youth, ie, child labor laws.

I work as a teller when im not in school. I'm 20, and most of the people there are older than in their teens. I think your best bet for getting into finance at that age is to try to find some area of a bank that doesnt deal directly with money like a call center or something similar. Most banks have positions where you would be basically taking customer calls, like telemarketing but they call you instead. This might be a good inroad into a banking job when you get older.

Its good to see other young people who work. I worked at Chic-fil-a when i was 14, lots of fun that cow suit is. Go for the bank instead.
