I'd never in a zillion+ years live in a Socialist Country, but it did get them filthy rich. In 50+ years they'll be another America.

How else can you boost your ego in way of being better than the guy next to you?

Just the other day, my Girlfriend told me that a (low level) employee at her place of work said to her how I'm lucky that "I'm her type". Annoyed by this peasant, I came back with a message for her to tell him: "That I make more money, and have a hotter Girlfriend than he ever will". HOW would I be able to give him such a 1-2 punch like that in a Communist society????

OK I didn't pay attention much in school, but isn't a Communism an even distribution of wealth amongst the Countries members? I imagine there would be some "Tax Brackets" of their own, and they'd perhaps be very general, but in order to build your worth, per-se, it would come down to how well you can save?

The government usurps private production and confiscates private capital whenever it wants. Basically, it is the most hypocritical form of government. See Hugo Chavez.

Yes, that's more like it.

On a side note, seems like humor doesn't register too well in O/T unless a Liberal agenda is on the receiving end.

JP MORGAN: CHINA'S ECONOMY IS EXPERIENCING A HARD LANDING
Sam Ro | Mar. 15, 2012, 4:26 AM | 3,297 | 11

One of the hottest and most important debates about the global economy is whether China's slowing economy would experience a hard or soft landing.

For the most part, experts have argued that the landing would be soft. In other words, the deceleration in growth would be moderate and manageable.

However, speaking at a conference, JP Morgan's Adrian Mowat said that the slow down has been much more severe and would characterize a hard landing. From Bloomberg's Weiyi Lim:

“If you look at the Chinese data, you should stop debating about a hard landing,” Mowat, who is based in Hong Kong, said at a conference in Singapore yesterday. “China is in a hard landing. Car sales are down, cement production is down, steel production is down, construction stocks are down. It’s not a debate anymore, it’s a fact.”
...
“One should be concerned about what’s happening in the China property market,” Mowat said at yesterday’s conference. “People are too complacent that the government can turn what’s going on in this market.”
...
“What you can look forward to is to see a pickup in property demand that will clear up the inventory; that doesn’t appear likely,” Mowat said in an interview after the conference yesterday. “I don’t see any evidence of a policy move that will cause the economy to reaccelerate.”

LOL - that's coming from a company that needed to be bailed out because the are so smart haha.

Chinese new year holidays affected Q1 numbers as they always do because the entire country is on holidays for couple weeks at least.

Anyone who calls 7.5 percent from around 8 percent a hard landing must be on crack. Some are revising the numbers to over 8 percent.

LOL, thats coming from, well......you. A fine posting history filled with astute observations and astounding analysis with amazing fact based predictions of the future.

Perhaps you should put down the DailyKOS playbook, this is not a global warming, errrrr, climate change thread. Refuting a factual presentation authored by a well respected intellectual by ignoring his argument and panning the company that writes his paycheck is not an accepted practice in economics.

And if you believe the Chinese government's GDP announcements I have this wonderful bridge in San Fran to sell you. Amazing views, you'll love the fresh air.

(PS, Genius, You might also want to note that the Chinese politburo snubbed the long time heir apparent and then look at who they promoted in his place. )

More warning signs

Quote:
Ian Ashby, President of Iron Ore for BHP Billiton just gave a presentation at the AJM Global Iron Ore & Steel Forecast Conference in Australia.

And investors weren't too thrilled to hear what he had to say about China.

From The Sydney Morning Herald:

"Growth is going to flatten off," BHP's iron ore division president, Ian Ashby said ahead of the Global Iron Ore & Steel Forecast Conference in Perth, adding that demand growth was seen falling into single digits.

''Growth will be less than what it has been, those times have been exceptional,'' he said. ''There is still tremendous opportunity to grow our iron ore business.''

Weak iron ore demand from China isn't just bad news for BHP Billiton. It could be a sign that China's economy is slowing by more than most think, which would have significant implications for the global economy.

Oh, but we can't trust him, he's in that eco unfriendly mining business, he must be a liar, like all of the time! Besides, the politburo says everything is just spankin doodle dandy! We can trust them!

And more warning signs;

Inside the Ring: Beijing coup rumors

Quote:
U.S. intelligence agencies monitoring China’s Internet say that from March 14 to Wednesday bloggers circulated alarming reports of tanks entering Beijing and shots being fired in the city as part of what is said to have been a high-level political battle among party leaders - and even a possible military coup.

The Internet discussions included photos posted online of tanks and other military vehicles moving around Beijing.

The reports followed the ouster last week of senior Politburo member and Chongqing Party Secretary Bo Xilai, who was linked to corruption, but who is said to remain close to China’s increasingly nationalistic military...

That's what happens when you pass over a politburo bully and put an economist in as chairman (but not because your economy is crumbling a la Grey and KA's very erudite sagacity claims).

PetroChina, after only 13 years in existence, now producing more oil than Exxon.

We'll all know that China is in trouble when they stop buying over-rated USA debt LOL. Hope in never happens!!

Dismal China, India data signal slowing growth
Associated PressBy ELAINE KURTENBACH | Associated Press – 6 hrs ago

SHANGHAI (AP) — Dismal data from China and India on Friday may signal a further weakening of the global recovery, undermining hopes the dynamic emerging economies of Asia can help prop up growth.
Well would you look at that. I guess Gaylord's contention that "China will be fine......" was dead on after all.

No wait, he has no idea what he is talking about and is dead wrong. Hmm, imagine that.

You doomsday-seekers are funny, wait and wait until you have a case and "AHA! I told you!"

Things go up, then things go down, then they go back up again. Watch the Stock Market or world economy as proof.

China's growth will indeed slow, but is it proven that they'll spin into disaster? As far as I'm concerned, their rates of growth are that of what pretty much any other Country in the world can only dream of. At this point, they're surpassing the U.S (or surpassed) in being the worlds largest economy. Their task from here on out is sustaining.
