There was plenty Bush did I didnt like and I made those points clear also, Bush was no conservative, but he didnt apologize for this countries actions to anyone, other countries may not like the US, but it is still the best game going. For a president to go on an apology tour like obama has is unforgiveable.

Almost any 'regulatory overhaul' done regarding money stuff (finance, currencies, trade, etc) is like peashooting

Obama has had many crisis opportunities to FIX and IMPROVE the country, unfortunately he has not taken advantage of them
I am seriously disappointed in how he has dont lots of international pandering, but really has not taken firm action to try to control the Fed Reserve, bring back our troops, trim the defense budget, expand education and sciences programs, etc etc -- but all of these are also complaints about the legislative ... so whatever, politics is worse than mental masturbation because there isn't any climax, just disappointment.

- Killed the space shuttle and pressuring NASA to work on more robotic missions, less manned operations

The difference is that Obama pointed out the Bush Administration's shortcomings in a civil manner during his political campaign rather than doing any bashing as part of a radical group using profane insults and signs as depicted in the pics I referred to in my post. If a liberal is bashing a conservative, it's "pointing out shortcomings in a civil manner". If a conservative is pointing out the shortcomings o the Obama Administration, it's bashing.

I'm surprised that you list this as something "good" he has done. And we already have the ability for everyone to be "tip-top healthy". The direction that Obama is pushing, to a single payer healthcare option, would certainly not lead to people being healthier, and in fact would lead to people not getting certain treatments in a timely manner as they are able to today. But lets look at what this new law has done. Insurance companies now have much higher expenses with the requirement that young adults are covered under their parents insurance and that they cannot disqualify someone for a pre-existing condition. So how does a business react when it's expenses are increased? It does what it can to increase revenue. And it does this in a hurry knowing that the law will greatly restrict future attempts to increase premiums.

Next, lets talk about personal liberties. This law, as it stands today, requires everyone to purchase a service. This is the first time that the Federal Government has required you to purchase anything. What a huge door this opens if it is able to stand. What next will the government require you to buy?

And what did this great bill/law not do? It didn't open up insurance companies to do business across state lines. This would make the companies more competitive, and help lower premiums. It didn't put in anything to limit or stop crazy lawsuits. A tort reform measure could go to lowering malpractice insurance which would in turn, lower the cost of healthcare.

In fact, the bill for this law was so great, that we had to wait until the bill was passed so we could see what was in it.

So what exactly do you like about this new law? Certainly there are things in the law which are good. But in weighing the cost against the benefits, I think we were better off without it.

Enough of this thread and any attempt for civilized debate regarding the current adminstration and the direction of this country. While this should be an important and meaningful discussion, political threads here are quickly filled with personal insults in response to individual opinion, so its just not worth my time anymore.

Perhaps the MB discussions are the ONLY place on this site where one might hope to find some common ground and some open-minded people. Indeed, my interest in MB cars are what led me to this site in the first place. Frankly I was very curious as to why there were so many polical threads at the outset and now I am actually shocked to find such a hardcore "Far Right" mentality here. Even a "Gun Club" culture here too...Really?. Isn't there a real gun club forum available somewhere else? MB certainly isn't in that business so interesting to find that group exists here. Then again, I guess the NRA is never too far from the far right.

Do any of you look for opportunities to bash Obama in the "Off Topic" threads on other Sites as well? Is the right wing so desparate that bashing Obama has become an internet obsession now?


When all is said and done, do any you really believe that hating and bashing our elected President can acutally help your cause? Does it make our country better or stronger? Perhaps threads that turn ugly like this one are just more proof that we are suffering from increasing political, (and moral), decay at this crucial time in history. A time when it is so important that we work together to solve problems. As I said beore, the right wingers and the associated Tea Party movement is actually backfiring and will ultimately help ensure that Barrack Obama enjoys a 2nd Term as President.
