There is no one size fits all. Are you looking for cash back? frequent flyer miles? discounts at specific stores, etc. etc.
Even then it's not straightforward...say you want frequent flyer miles, well which airline? are you willing to get less rewards in order to have more flexibility with the routes and airlines you travel?

I like my Amazon/Chase card. I get double points for lots of stuff and the points are linked automatically to my Amazon account.

Cash Freedom has good cash back! Just don't hold a balance as the interest rate it high.

For me, I find the Amex Blue Cash card best.
Up to $6500, you get .5% on all purchases, and 1% on gas, groceries and drug stores Above $6500, you get 1.25% on all purchases and 5% on gas, groceries and drug stores. With the cash back, you can apply it directly against your statement or there are rewards that you can buy--your choice. There's no annual limit on the rewards that you can earn. No annual fee, either. |
