I got the regular body silver and black in color. I ordered it from towerhobbies.com check them out seriously the have $30 off of orders of $229 or More, free shipping. Check them out you wont be disappointed. Don't get me wrong Larrys Performance RC is good, but ill take a good deal anyway I can. I was at PropShop hobbies yesterday picking up parts they had the traxxas 100mph car you bought for $1029. so Larrys is competitive.

It was a mini Benz/Traxxas meet on sat night! lol

I believe there is an outdoor RC track on Gratiot! Can we run the 1/10 Slash at larrys indoor course?

Where do you buy the LED's? What powers them and are they hard to install?

Maybe one day we can do a little Benz and Slash meet? For some reason the image of a man in a van saying do you want to see my remote control truck? Just popped in my head!

Like today I stopped at larrys because they had my sons control arm pin in stock. I ask the man helping me what type of oil I used use on the bearings he is like we have a lubricant but it is expensive. I was like wtf oh boy how much is it? He answers $3.99 I was expecting him to say $20 he hits me with $3.99 i was like ill buy you one homie!

You will definitly get better deal online .. for quick fix parts Ill support my local shop for sure . But if I can wait lol its being ordered online or ebay .lol

My $1000 car can be had for about 600-700 if you buy parts seperate and use your own radio and stuff and can be made better then the RTR traxxas sells had I know that I wouldnt have jumped so fast to blow a grand on one ride

Never raced there but I think there is rules and requirments like not sure if you can use lipo or what size it has to be . My local hobby store sell same car for 1100+tax when I called Larrys they were like 999 was like what the hell for 100+ dollars plus Ive never been there said let me get it there and see what the place is like .. havnt been since and everytime I walk into the shop by me with the car I feel like a dick asking them for help and I didnt buy it from them lol , regardless though in last 3 month they have all of my freeplay money and then some so who cares lol

Best of all can just imagine your sons face when he sees you got one too

I felt like a douche because I bought the control arms and stub axle carrier at Prop Shop yet I am buying the control arm screw at larrys. Larrys sold me a screw in control arm as opposed to the stock pin with e clips on each end. Do you have any experience or opinions regardintg the screw in pin?

your local hobby shop sells kits allready wired with like 2 front 2 rear or 4 each for like $20-30 bucks for the kit . Ive been down that route but I like doing the work , now actually buy them in bulk from a dude in HOLLY,MI thru ebay , buy like 20 white 20 red and assorted other colors plus 9v battery connectors and comes out to like $30 total shipped and hes not to far so u get them next day or day after , choose how many I want to put on the body and mark and drill the hole where I want the light . usually a 3mm led takes a 3/8inch bit and 5 mm take 1/4inch put the light holder and snap on the led , once everything in place take it out solder all wiring , tape up and i duck tape the 9v battery and good togo lol

That would be the ****t , but if you dont got 3s lipo in yours that like not having the supercharger that comes on the 55 benzo lol Definitly have to hook up one weekend on gratiot and race both scale cars hahahaha

this is how I get the leds

I broken both kinds and really it would come down to personal preference , I prefer stuff that screws down personally but either way it will work as should have no effect I wouldnt believe . Once it starts bashing and body one you wont even remeber it till it breaks and has to be replaced lol

but my very expensive car has the eclips so my guess they probably easier to replace on the track where you can just attach the clips compared to having to have screwdriver on hand I have big hands so those clips are a ***** for me to hold of I dont have right tools with me

you have 5000 mah NIHM which is like the normal battery that comes in the box ..
Then you have LiPo which comes in 2S and 3S and higher in an assortment of MAHs from the 1000's upto 8000 n higher probably .
The NiHM batteries when wearing down show as the car speed gets sluggish as its going down , on LIPO you have that constant power all way through till it runs down ..

which battery did you order
2S lipo 5000 mah ? what brand ? does it have TRAXXAS plugs ?
Did you order a lipo charger ?

Well apparently it is an Onyx 5000mah. When i was perusing the traxxas site i read a couple of threads talking abou 5000mah as the ones to go with. I believe it had traxxas plugs. I did not order lipo charger. Most likely I am going to cancel the battery for now, then in the near future I will buy the lipo battery and charger. To use Lipo, do you have to have a brushless motor?

Just keep the onyx also .. it will come in handy , but the charger that is supplied with the car will take forever to charge the 5000mah , have to leave it overnight atleast . The brushless will be fast enough even with the onyx5000 battery and alot better then the 3300 suplied will give u some xtra run time ..

with traxxas their systems are setup with Low voltage detection . You can use LIPO in a brushed motor , you just have to setup the esc in detection mode because if you run a LIPO battery all way down like a NIHM you will destroy the cells and it will not charge or could start burning up or releasing a cloudy puff of smoke which can be harmful . by all means im no expert and disregard just about all the rules except that of the charging process lol

Your supposed to have a fireproof bag so when their sitting around if anything goes wrong the bag will contain it , personally im playing with fire because I have 5 differnt lipos in back of the benz and pray to god nothing liek that happens to them lol

When your boy T-Boned the Lambo you should have been like ooowwww my neck! Im going to have a left over rear stub axle carrier, lol!

I can see it now we will have the Hobby Shop Stickers on our Mercedes. When I went to Larrys the other day the guy in the suburban had a Prop Shop Hobbies sticker on his window, then he pulled into Larrys. I was thinking to myself, where is his loyalty.

I will say this I always thought Hobby Shops were B.S. operations the two I've been to recently have lat least 5-10 people working a shift. It kinda got me to start thinking! Research opening my own, all the free parts I want!!!!!!

For the Lambo take the wheel to Hot Wheel City they can get the bends out, and I know a guy on 7mile that can do the bodywork!

Weekend Update: The Slashes are back on the road! My Slash should be here on Monday. I was wondering how these trucks handle with street type tires.
Oh boy its starting I am already seeing suspension upgrades. Do they make stabalizer bars for these things? lol

Wow looks nice! My boy was giving me a hard time because my kids broke their bearing carriers. He drove his VXL Slash for the first time last night, he was all cocky talking smack. I get a text this afternoon of a picture of his Slash with the rear wheel flopped over, you guessed it he broke his bearing carrier. He asked where he could get the part, I told him my basement. I bought three sets the other day.

Hello,

Since I saw this thread, I thought I'd ask a question.

I recently purchased my first electric RC car - it is the Dickie Carrera S that was in the 2005 Porsche Design catalog. Only 4 dealers in the country still had one, and I found one. It came new in the box. I have charged the NiCd batteries twice now. The 9v for the transmitter was dead, but I put in a brand new one. My problem is that the car has a range of less than 1 foot. Literally. If I stand right on top of the car, it will go forward for maybe a car length then lose signal and stop. If I then keep "forward" pushed on the transmitter and step towards the car, it won't move again until I am within an inch or two of it. I have not modified the car in any way, nor have I opened it up to look around. There is a sticker on the transmitter that says 49MHz, and the sticker on the car says 40MHz. Any idea at all what could be wrong, and why I get no range whatsoever?

Thanks,
-Greg

Greg,

The best advice I could give is find out the manufacturer and email them and explain your situation. Sounds like a transmitter and receiver issue. I am in now way an expert I just got into the hobby two weeks ago. I have had a couple of issues and I emailed customer support they have been very helpful.

Your might be having a frequency issue . and if the car and remote are not on same freQ then that why you are getting that interference .. Also depending on what type of wireless objects you have going on in the house at same time that could be also causing a issue especially if somthing is in same range .. But the mhz could be messed up ., was the box sealed when you purchased it , really those cars will not give you much range like the newer ones of today .. I think those were more designed for diecast and they just threw a motor and remote . Usually though Ive never seen a remote car with a diff frequency remote because the receiver in the car should match the remotes frequency , just incase your running 2 cars at same time same make n model their frequencies should be differnt .. If you were local I would check it out for you but your best bet would prob be to return it if you paid a pretty penny for it , if you think its worth it just to keep cuz the car looks beautiful then thats another option .. edit : something like this would make you be like WHOA but it might not match the porsche you had in mind , just a thought http://www.ebay.com/itm/1-10-Porsche...281712#vi-desc
