C320 Performance Thread
Let's start this thread for C320 owners
if anyone has the performance upgrades in their C320 please post it.
I will be looking for some basic performance upgrade soon.
What I am thinking now is the sprint booster and a chip.

if crazy speed if what you wanted, you should have baught a 32'.
The 320 engine has a couple aspects of it that can be upgraded..... but wont put you close to the speed of the 32.
M112 N/A mods:
Intake side:
- Renntech high-flow air box
- High flow filters (greens, itg, K&N)
- Throttle body over-bore
Exhaust side:
- Headers (if they apply to your 320 car..)
- de-cat or custom high flow cats.
- custom high-flow mid pipes / resonator delete
- any known tuner exhaust.
Other nice engine mods:
- ECU
- SprintBooster (no power incease, but dramatic engine response improve)
- Magnecor racing spark plug wires
- Iridium spark plugs
- N.O.S (custom... either a 50 or 75 wet shot)
- CAMSHAFTS (pricey, about $2500.. but offer a nice gain)
Hardcore: Supercharger... KLEEMANN.
those are probably all the horsepower / torque gaining mods out there for the 320 that are worthwhile........ any other tips please add them.

I wanted to add...forum meber "Tery" with his W208 CLK320 has probably the most extensively modified N/A 320.... he has almost all the mods I listed above minus the supercharger.... he also has added some hardcore parts to his cars suchs as bbk & fikse wheels, full brabus suspension, custom tie rods, racing seats...... etc. probably the nicest "320" outthere apart from the custom wide-body w209 brabus bodied kleemann supercharged CLK320 that was just sold a couple days ago.....

profbooty:
it can be done, for everyones information...the ECU on the car is practically left untouched when doing this......
main things needed to be done in order to perform this is having a custom pulley built in order to LOWER the peak boost of the Supercharger to a safe 8lbs of boost or lower... fuel needs to be added via an FMU such as Vortech's 12:1 system & a KenneBell boost-a-pump. Also, many people adjust timing & modifiy air/fuel rations via a Split Second unit (www.splitsec.com) ......
that above, along with ALL the supercharger, hea exchanger & intercooler off a 32' AMG are needed, plus...the relocation of the MAF sensor will be needed depending on model/year of the car.
total cost of this task is about $4000+ depending on how good of a deal you can ge on parts, also, that is if you do 80% of the work yourself.

but like rlee said, evosport underdrive pulley will be a good upgrade as well, and it doesn't cost much at all

It was for me. about 66% off of MSRP and I know the previous owner didnt use it for very long due to his new SC that he installed in his c320.

No worries. Saved a lot of bucks then.
Why dont you try the euro chip that claims to add an extra 20+ bhp for approx 200 $ only. Here's the link (though a little old now)...

Trust me, I have searched the whole internet and there's not a single thing that will give the M112 a major bump in HP. I found a shop in Arizona called Atwood European and the owner said the only worthy thing to do is an V8 5.5 s/c engine swap. They are the distributor for HPS and makes S/C in house.
I live in the East coast and have been thinking very hard if I should ship the car over there for a heart transplant . I just can't stand a tiny engine in such a big car.

Throttle body over-bore? just boring stock size? i know they are not same bore from top to bottom - in the middle they are not as wide. still to use same throttle butter-fly?

I put a 15% underdrive pully on my camero. it got 15hp at the wheel increase. plus, an xxtr 3mph. the way it work is allowing you engine to spin faster with no loss of mph.
as car with 20-30 yrs ago they had distributors. you set the dist. up - lighter springs (to allow it to open quicker, like a sprintboot) called re-cruving. the you advance the dist. to get the best of both world of low and high rpm power. then you increase the vaccumm to keep the motor spinning faster.
the under drive pully allows the motor to run at a hi'er rpm. if your motor is spinning 2,000rpm at 70 - it will run 2,300 to 2,500 rpm at 70rpm.
now, does anyone knoe why there are tachs with auto transimions? normally your motor spins at 2,000 at 70mph on flat hwy. then all of a sudden it is spinng 2,300 at the same speed. this means you transmission is slipping. tach are not for watching when you floor the gas peddle.
