dash/console illumination help needed.

hi all. new to the site - hope someone can help please. my 02 e320 cdi blows fuse 6 in the fuse panel in the end of the dash when i turn the lights on. this leaves me with no dash or centre console illumination. anyone had any experience of this, or can throw any light on the problem please? thanks in anticipation.

Hi again all
Since my last post on this topic (sorry to start a new thread(?) - not obvious to me (especially after a 12 hour night shift!) how to continue thread).
Have now got lights working again (3rd fuse change - fuse 6 on end of dash), but - speedo lights and vent control lights now on and steady when lights turned on, but centre console (window, door mirror, etc switches) were steady, but then started intermittently switching on and off, causing radio noise during this switching, and now stay off. This leads me to believe that the centre console lighting is controlled through a further relay which is unreliable(?), or is fed from a further lead that is not plugged in properly(?). Can't find anything much on circuitry - does anyone know how this part of the circuits is fed please? ie speedo illumination and vent controls in centre console are now on and steady when lights turned on, but other centre console lighting is intermittent or now off.
