Welcome to the forum.
If you have airmatic, this will lower your car. Btw, I replaced my X5 with R500 just like you and I feel they are very different type of cars. X5 sits higher but much shorter. R500 actually sits lower but it is LONGGGG. Not sure how you can make the ride similiar.

2011 C300 4matic, 2015 Porsche Macan S, 2006 R500 (sold)
So if I have Airmatic suspension option, I only need this to lower the car correct? I like the factory AMG wheels, are those 20's?

I'm still not quite appreciating the post-apocalyptic / matt black look that has become a bit trendy lately. I know, it's supposed to look tough or something. But to me, it just looks like a car in primer waiting for the final paint application.
I guess it's nice of you don't want to worry about waxing and oxidation...

Nowadays, you can paint your vehicle with any color with plastic dip paint which can be removed easily if you do not like it.

Probably the best Mercedes I've driven...
Hi guys
Literally just joined the forum after being a guest on here for a couple of weeks - thank you for the numerous bits of advice posted.
My Mercedes history here in the UK... ML320, C220, A180, V230, C200, ML420, CLK350, and wandered off course with Lexus RX350, BMW x5, Porsche Cayenne and Volvo XC90. Based on that history I must admit I didn't think I would fell in love with the R class, but when I sat in the R320 I completely fell for it. With 3 kids it's the ideal vehicle, and generally speaking I rate a car on how it makes me feel, rather than what other people will think (I did own a V class after all!).
I just wanted to pitch in with my "vanilla" R320 2006 model, which came with plenty of options but I'm keen to add a few bits to it. Specifically interested on adding a USB option for music and HDMI in for the DVD system. And also missing the automatic tailgate, which as far as I can tell can't be retro fitted.
Anyway here's a couple of pics, will keep scouring the forum for ideas on new gadgets.
Thanks & Kind Regards
Dan

MBWorld Fanatic!
Dan, an automatic tailgate can be retrofitted but will require parts, money, and labor. MBenzNL is the guy to talk to regarding specific information on this retrofit and he can supply you with all the parts. His website is Mbenznl.nl located in the Netherlands. He helped me retrofit ventilated front seats to my R and the process was fairly straight forward. Take a look at my build thread: https://mbworld.org/forums/r63-amg-w...-thread-6.html

I must admit... that's the first time I've thought that the facelift front end looks pretty good. I'm still partial to the first-gen/zenki look, but seeing that the later front has some potential when the rest of the car is modified to suit, does make my mind wander a bit... hmmmm....

Ah, I was assuming you had retrofitted the front and rear ends on to your previous R...! Did you swap UAS bags over the front struts, or did you cut and weld new struts/coilover inserts into the stock front lower strut brackets? Do you have any more pics you can share, especially of the suspension build?

Have you tried

I think this is where many get the links from. I got the rears from there (I don't have air up front) and the owner was great to work with. Hope this helps
