oil plug location

Hi here is a shot of R350 oil plug if anyone is interested. There's about ten small 10mm hex head screws that hold the plastic cover on under the car very easy job.

Quite honestly, this was the most useful section of this DIY.

I prefer the gravity method as well. The panel can be a bit of a pain to remove, but once that's off the rest of the job goes quite smoothly. Oh, btw, the oil drain plug is 13mm in size.

The oil change instruction posted by rgood10921 is very helpful. However, I could not find the Oil Filter on my 2009 MBZ R350. Can someone help and with instructions? Thanks.

Hi 06350. Thank you for your response. That was awesome. Now, I can take the engine cover without using any too which exposes the oil filter. Thanks again.

I just changed oil on my wife's 2012 R350. Since I am a long time user of Amsoil there EFM 05-40 meets or exceeds MB specs. This is a Calif. Car so not normally subject to Cold weather.

The beauty of Sheet 229.5 is that: 1. It's a shorter list; 2. It only lists 3 Exxon Mobil oils, one being Mobil 1 0W 40; 3. You can go longer between changes...if memory serves MB says up to 15,000 kilometres.

By the way Sheet 325 contains all the coolant choices - - even harder to find - Just buy it from MB and you're good to go - mix it with distilled water though 50:50 if it's not pre-mixed. Always handy to have a jug around.
Looking at the chart on page 6 of the Maintenance Booklet (attached)under "Viscosity grades for engine oils" it seems like there is a wide range of approved viscosity grades from 0W-30 to 20W-50 depending on the climate.

Looks like 0W-40, 5W-40 and 5W-50 are approved for all temperatures, but 0W-30 or 5W-30 is ok for colder climates too.

Where is this 229.5 sheet that everyone (and the booklet) refers too?

Thanks!
