Looking at 2010 BlueTec...any opinions

I'm looking at the BlueTec R350 w/ 7-seat option, Premium 1 package, RES, and 3-zone climate (note: some options are unavoidable unless I order).

MSRP:$60905
With USAA car buying program, I'm looking at $55303 including destination fee; the only thing I have to pay is title/tax/etc.

Anyone think I can get a better deal?

I think you can do better if you can wait a while. The redesigned 2011 R has been being assembled since June 28 and will be showing up at dealers shortly. You might get $5K off on a new 2011 if you play your cards right. When the 2011's show up is when you'll get a super deal if you still want a 2010.

Agree. Mercedes has a tendency to provide heavy incentive to the dealers to clean out all the leftover about September time frame for the next year model. R typical gets about $5-8K discount.

With the brand new body style R-class coming in 2011, you should be able to get $7-10K off from the MSRP if you are able to wait a bit.

Btw, if you are only getting 4K off, I will wait and buy a redesign R-class instead. I think it is so much nicer looking

All I can say is good luck finding a 2010 R, let alone a diesel. My three local to me dealers (All owned by the same company) don't even have a single one in stock. Last one I remember them having new was a steel grey R350 fully loaded with a $60K+ sticker. It sold in about a week. Most MB dealers don't even order the R class since it's such a niche/ demographic type vehicle.

If you don't mind a little drive, Schumacher MB in Scottsdale has 4 new R350's in stock and Arrowhead MB in Glendale,AZ has one R350. No new 320's in the Phoenix metro area as far as I can tell.

Well, I got one of the two BlueTec, 7-seaters located on the East Coast. MSRP: $61475; Invoice: $57800; My price: $55303

I tried to go lower, but the other available BlueTec was quickly picked up which made dealer competition essentially go away. Waiting for further incentives or the 2011 was untenable due to a expanding family.

Congrats!! What color, option packages etc? Did you have to go far from home to find it? 320's are tough to find.

White, BlueTec, RES, 7-seat, 3-zone climate, P1, parktronic, and basic roof carrier rack with luggage case

I was fortunate: did not have to go too far...only one other with the same options on eastern seaboard.

I think you made a great deal considering there are so few 2010 BlueTec's around and 2011's won't be in the dealerships for a while. I've seen low mileage used 2009's and 2010's with asking prices in the low mid $50K range.

Enjoy it in good health.

Oh s**t!! Been there, done that. Once and only once.

I better check to see if my daughter's 2007 R350 has them. Hope not.

I knew that, but what I am unsure of is this: can I get "normal" tires once the RFTs are kaput?

You can, but you'll have no place for a spare tire.

What's wrong with the runflats? I have them and they are fine, quiet and provide a good ride.
