COMAND radio tuner and/or antenna not functioning

Earlier this week the tuner stopped working on our 2006 R500 for AM/FM/WB. I removed the COMAND unit to check if the antenna lead had somehow come loose from the back, and that was unfortunately not the cause. Has anyone else experienced an issue like this? Where would I find the other end of the antenna lead to check the connection there? I'm hoping to avoid the $200 deductible on my extended warranty for a service visit for something as minor as the radio, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

First determine if the problem is in the radio itself. Sounds lame, but insert a paperclip unfolded into the center pin of the radios Fakra antenna connector. You should be able to get "some" reception this way. If you get no reception, the COMAND has failed and needs to be repaired or replaced (we can assist with this is desired). If you DO get a little reception, your antenna amplifier has probably failed, or the antenna itself has become damaged in some way.
