After 2 1/2 years, finally rid of R350

After listing the R350 for a year, it finally sold yesterday for $29k.
With just 70,000kms on it, the following happened: (and this car was babied!) It was two cars: our first and last Mercedes.

Steering rack replaced - knocking
Purge valve replaced twice - still not working properly
Rear gate closer replaced - still will not close door 50% of time
Leaking power steering fluid - not fixed
AC stopped working - charged, then worked. Leaking somewhere
Rear tires abnormal wear rate despite wheel alignments
Tire pressure sensors going crazy last couple of weeks - kept resetting, pressures OK
Pano roof continues to rattle and creak despite being serviced twice
Remote mirrors control not working - mirrors will not adjust
NAV screen has developed a vertical line down the middle of screen
Driving lights are full of water within housing
Auxiliary battery replaced
Camshaft position sensor replaced
Knocking front end - not fixed
Front and rear brakes need replacing despite being replaced at 30k.

14L / 100km Fuel Consumption as per computer

My 2007 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel 4x4 Megacab burns at a rate of 15L / 100km !

Currently looking at BMW 335i Coupe; don't need vehicle of R-Class size. VERY solid ride compared to the Mercedes.

Buyer BEWARE of these vehicles. $$$$

Sorry you had such a bad experience with your vehicle. However, if I recall correctly, didn't you discover your car had previous collision damage? Depending on the severity of the damage, that may have contributed to some of the issues you had to deal with. I'm not making excuses for your problems, as you should expect more from a MB CPO vehicle. Certainly there is a question about the dealer's practices and whether the dealer should have even certified your car. Hopefully, all your repairs were covered under warranty and you did not have to come out of pocket in addition to dealing with the aggravation of having it repaired. But some of us have had quite the opposite experience with our R class. I, for one, couldn't be happier with our car. In any event, I do sympathize with your situation and glad you finally got out of it. Good luck with your next vehicle, whatever you choose.

You got a good deal for selling your R350@ $29K.
No problem with my 08 R350 so far, dealer scheduled service yearly and has 18,500 miles on it. If I sell my R for only $29K, I will have $15000 cash on hand.

R350 2006
Lemons abound

I feel your pain East Coast. Owned the R-350 for 2 years and has been in the shop over a dozen times.
-Steering Wheel replaced, horn going off
-Now heat is causing all items on new steering wheel to be
rendered inoperable-anytime outside air is above 80F
-4Matic intermittently wont shift out of 2nd gear, have to pull over and
shut off vehicle.
-HVAC dials quit responding, main HVAC module replaced
-Only the HVAC fixed has lasted, the previous 3 have been addressed and are now reoccuring on a regular basis.
2006 is a bust. Looking at ditching ours as well.
