Congratulations on your R! I wish you many happy miles.
So, learning from the past (300SL, 190SL, Edsel, TR3, etc), I'm going to hang on to my R and CLK because they will become collector's items! Gonna need a bigger garage, though. Our MBCA Section is entertaining. Nice group of folks. Very much like our Harley Owners Group chapter, just with MBZ instead of Hogs. Oh, and we dress a little differently for the two clubs events.

Run don't walk
I've owned british sports cars that were more reliable than this car. Worst car by far I've ever owned!!!!!
In the 30,000, that's right, 30,000 miles I've owned the car: Rear ball joint $700 conductor plate $1800 Failed air bag $1100 (doing it myself because I'm fed up $313) Two belts $500 Waiting for the balance shaft, hopefully that will only be $4500. POS!!! |

Which of the rear ball joints went bad on yours? I actually just did a DIY on my w211 so may as well keep the auto zone ball joint tool a few more days and work on my r350. Ugh makes me wonder if benzes are worth the effort! Is there even a DIY on ball joints for this ride?

Any news on the rear ball joint replacement? I'm looking to replace our soon.
Our right rear started squeaking right after I replaced the rear air springs. Doesn't bother me, but it's killing my wife (and she's the one that can't hear any squeaks or rattles). Quote:
