Trailer wiring question : 2006 R350

Hi. I am ready to buy and install a trailer hitch for a bike rack, as I do occasionally haul a small utility trailer, I want to also supply power to the trailer brake lights.

From the web the kits sold by e-Trailer suggests that it taps wire to the battery ... which is the part that worry me as the batter is hard to access.

Questions are:

1. is there an alternative to get power other than form the battery?
2. is the wiring instructions came with the kit provide sufficient detail for the task?
3. which wiring kit did you use and recommend?

Thanks in advance.

Under the spare tire, there is a fuse box that has a positive (+) terminal where the main cable coming in that you can connect to it.

AsianR350 : thanks for the info. fantastic news. I found the fuse box as you suggested (on passenger side).

Apology for a noob question ... just want to be sure: the + terminal your are referring to, is it the post as shown on the upper right hand corner of the fuse box?

Thanks again!

I believe that is the one. Use a voltmeter to test it (there is a ground nearby). You should get 12 volts with engine off.

That is the 12vDC + side coming from the battery. I used that lug for a sub amp I installed in the spare tire compartment
