SDAR (Sirius Radio Module) Replacement???
Fellow members,
This is my first post, so when you speak of me, speak kindly. I have a 2008 R-Class with 242K on the odometer and my dealer has diagnosed my silent audio system as needing a new SDAR module - to the tune of almost $1200.
I purchased one online from a 2007 S-Class at an affordable $125 and the seller supplied the VIN as well - just in case it was needed. My question is this:
Can I basically unplug the defective unit (two connectors) and plug in the replacement unit - or will there need to be some level of security coding, etc. in order to get the R-Class to recognize the used unit for the S-Class or are they all generic?
Last question: I believe the SDAR is mounted under the left rear quarter trim. Does anyone know for sure?
Thank you and God bless,
Leo
