ANNOYING ADVENTURES WITH BRAKES

So the light comes on in my wife's r320, "brake wear". no big deal, lets order some pads. MB wants $190 for just front axle pads!! ceramic brembos were $90, not as cheap as i was hoping but its better.

up on stands, wheel off, 8mm hex doesn't fit... 10mm hex doesn't fit. i do not possess a 9mm hex. according to the guy at the hardware store, "they don't make those."

Oreily's has one (online). everyone has one online. that doesn't help me today. not to mention that everywhere is not open on NYE or they closed earlier today.

now i have to put it all back together and wait until i can get my hands on a 9mm hex.

are there any other novelty tools that i need to due basic maintenance on the r320? i already have the star bits in hand.

sorry, just venting.

If you are going to do any work on MB you need set of 1/4 or 3/8 drive Allen (what you call hex?), and inside and outside torx/star .

however dumb question, you do not need a Allen wrench to change pads. Just a punch to push out the pad retaining pins. What are you trying to do?

Danwoods,

do you know how many km you got before your Brake Wear error came on?

How many Kms you have on the missus' W251 now?
