Question Occasional Transmission Issue :(

Hey guys. I have recently purchased an '06 R500 for my wife and been having this occasional transmission issue. I have made a little research about it but just not sure what to call it so I decided to post a thread. My case, sometimes while driving, transmission doesn't shift at all and just keep revving higher and higher. I have to come to a stop, turn the car off and on, then it drives just fine. Also again occasionally when I come to a stop at a light or so, the car doesn't move in either D or R. I also have slight jerk on downshifts. Never tried manually shifting which is useless since my wife will never need it. What do you guys suggest I do? Thanks in advance.

I'm having a similar issue and research tells me to take it to dealer. Have them install latest transmission software. If problem persists, I am looking at replacing valve body. $2800. I plan to take it in soon for service and will update. If they tell me it needs the $2800 repair, I'll just bite the bullet because the car fantastic and I can't buy a new car for $2800.

Please do report back. I'm thinking about taking it to the dealer as well.

Is the car we're discussing a 5 speed or 7 speed. If it's a 5 speed I would suspect anyone trying to sell me a new valve body. If it's a 7 speed, maybe, bit IMO unlikely.

If you don't know... some of the 7 speeds have had issues with the valve body.

So, I valve body or controller replacement is likely... a transmission replacement on the other hand is probably not likely.

Interestingly enough, it seems that servicing it with a fluid drain and filter replacement seems to keep things happy. We are on a 40k cycle and we are fine with 100k on it.
