R320 woes
Hey all,
Have owned a MY 2009 R320 since new (Nov 15, 2008). It has been a nice road trip car. We've racked up 159km on it and are leaving for Florida this coming Tuesday. So, took it to our indie shop to get a complete service and look over before we leave. The car had oil filters and oil changed on engine, trannie and diffs. My last visit at the stealership, they told us we'd have to change the rack and pinion due to it leaking. Our indie found nothing wrong with the rack and pinion. However, he did find an upper control arm on the driver's side needing to be replaced. CEL was caused by the preheater in the adblue tank (this was VERY expensive!). He took apart the pano roof switch which wasn't working and now does (stealership wanted to replace the switch for $1500!). So, all is good now. I hope! Can't wait to hit the road!
These are damn nice autos, but they cost a FORTUNE to run. This visit cost me $3600CDN.
Cheers

Hey EF, I use European Motorwerks. They are right next door to the Ferrari dealership on Jean-Talon and Lucerne. Hassan is a stand-up guy and he services high-end cars only. His prices are reasonable. He does a lot of the Ferrari head jobs. It's 10k at his place compared to 20-25k at Ferrari.

Oh, Can a da!
Hey, you stopped 170 miles too soon...we're south SWFL! Good to hear you made it safe and sound. Enjoy the heat and humidity.
The R is one hell of a fine road car. We usually get 27-28 on the highway; even after the must-get-home-quick-115 mph-windows-open trip down I75 3 weeks ago (a/c comp. failed ($1,995).
Got 29-30 in the W Virginia mountains couple years ago. Ours is CDI, no bluetec, don't know if that makes a diff.
But wait, your 'average' speed was 78? Yikes!
Have fun! No (attack) sharks in the west coast Gulf far as I know, but then, I don't go in the water.

My wife hated the R when we first got her November 2008. Now? You'd have to take the keys out of her dying hands.
