2010 R350 BlueTEC
2010 R350 Bluetec Questions

Planning to pickup a used 2010 R350 Bluetec that has 43k miles on it.
The seller told me that he did the 40k service and he recently changed front brake pads and he has changed all 4 tires. they have less than 3000 miles on them.
Is there any other issue that I need to look out for that particular year.
Note:
The car has Bumper to bumper warranty till 2016 November which he said is completely transferable to the 2nd owner.
I am new to MB, so as a 2nd owner will I be able to get another warranty on it when it still has the bumper to bumper and is it worth taking one?

A proactive thing I do with every used car I buy is change all the filters - air, oil, cabin, fuel, etc; do an oil change and transmission fluid change. If it has over 100,000kms (62,000miles) I change out the spark plugs and wires too - obviously something that's irrelevant to a diesel. I usually take my used vehicles to get re-safetied also, so I can go back on the shop/seller and get those things replaced/repaired that should have been done to pass the safety. I also usually take off the wheels and inspect the breaks and suspension and treat any corrosion or potential corrodible parts with Fluid Film then I put anti-sieze on the hub face and put the wheels back on.

I probably wouldn't hurt to do a brake fluid and coolant flush also.

As the 40k service was done at Merc dealership, wouldn't I be able to pull up the records from any Merc dealership on what was done, instead of changing all the filters and fluids?
Am I missing something here

You should be able to, but it all depends on how willing the dealer is to do it. I never take anyone's word for it though.

Two things that I'm currently in the process of doing is:
1. An EGR delete
2. Installing a catch can on the crankcase breather

In my research on these engines (OM642) these are absolutely necessary to ensure long life and problem-free operation. The EGR delete is to correct failures with the DPF which is an add-on to meet NoX emissions requirements, but then results in a cascade of other remediation tactics. The catch can (i just bought a ProVent 200) collects oil vapours from the crank case that is normally routed into the air intake, which in turn caused damage to the seals, plastic intake components, and turbo, as well as plugging the intake manifold.

I consider these design flaws, however they may or may not be incidental in nature, especially with the EGR because it was a compromise with government regulations.

R350 BlueTec
I have an R350 BlueTec, 108,00 Klm. All Service A/B have been conducted ontime.
At the 80,000 Klm mark the Engine Light alert came on. It corrected itself after a restart of the engine. It came on again after about 200 Klm and stayed on.
The MB Service corrected the problem by replacing a sensor for emissions..
I'm now at 108,000 and the Engine Light has once again come on.
Is there another underlying issue that should be addressed beside changing the sensor? Anybody have any experience or advice?

Do you know which sensor they replaced specifically?
