Edmund shows the dealer sells 2006, 76000 miles for $10700.
If I were you, I keep the R as a daily beater vehicle. If you live in the snow area, put winter tires on it and it will be a tank.

The car is throwing codes for camshaft. I think the camshaft is poorly engineered on this model. Looks like labor is like 5k for that. Code is P0015

I see. This affects model 2006 to 2007. My 08 is clear of that problem (thank god) by checking the vin no.

Mb should cover this. It was defective from the supplier which metal was too soft.

Found this on Mercedes forum (2006 R350):
Thanks for your reply not_too_shabby

there's only 1 code (P0015). read online there's a toyota TSB regarding this code. the TSB says it could be due to sticky valve lifters and to add a bottle of EFI cleaner & run the engine till the CEL goes off.

so, I got a 5oz bottle of Lucus fuel injector cleaner & lubrication from walmart. drove the car to work this morning with the CEL still on. poured the bottle of Lucus in the gas tank before driving home after work. had the engine started while i clear the off the snow & walaa.....the CEL is off....

will check again when i drive to wokr tomorrow morning. hopefully the CEL stays off....

There isn't. There is a class action suite settlement.

Here is one site regarding it.

http://topclassactions.com/lawsuit-s...nary-approval/

May be wise to print it out and discuss with your dealer..

Yes, You are right.

Sprocket worn out premature dues to the softer material that supplied by vendor and also his problem (P0015)Magnet – Camshaft Adjustment Camshaft.

The CPS (crankshaft position sensor) and camshaft are two entirely different issues.

Oh crap! Is this a problem with all the engines of this size? Or was it restricted to certain years/makes?

Ahhhh,,, yes.... Here we go again....

Just remember... it only affected around 10% of the suspect vehicles....

Ours is a 2006 with 105K and has not had the issue.
