W251 suspension

Hi,

First post on here, but I'm really stuck!!

Normal suspension issues with the airmatic on my W251. Its intermitant and the dealer failed to diagnose the issue. I've checked the system up for leaks and replaced the valve block - so now I'm fairly sure if the control module. I've picked one up 2nd hand from a local breaker... but I cannot find where it goes!! So that's my question: does anyone know where the airmatic control module is on the W251 please!!!!

Thanks, Andy

Well, first of all, pardon my question but do you have true airmatic or just the standard self leveling rear air springs?

Many people confuse the two...

Big clue... do you have this button on the dash?

Fair point... it is air suspension as in it has 2 air bags at the back, but it is not the full airmatic. The front is conventional springs and there are no controls. Sorry for the confusion! Andy

OK, part two... what is the part number of the control module you have? Maybe a picture?

The self leveling rear is a pretty simple system. So simple that I just recently ripped out the compressor and got no warning lamps... LOL... the control block is still plugged in, but no compressor. BTW.... it's OK since I replaced my air springs with coils....

I looked up the part number and it is correct..

According to my Alldata (2006) the module is located under the front passenger carpet. Mounted on a bracket next to the Aux battery.

Brilliant, thank you very, very much.

In fact the battery is well past its best so I'll change that at the same time. Much appreciated! Looks like I've got a little weekend job, lets hope that finally fixes the problem.
