Stereo q's
Looking to replace the stock unit with something that will work better for me and my wife. Preferably something that has blue tooth, and will fill the stock location. Any suggestions? I'd also like to keep the steering wheel controls, not so concerned about the multi disc player, but it wouldn't hurt to be able to use it from time to time....

Pioneer has a range of units with options. They come with both Apple's CarPlay and Google's counterpart. High quality, lots of functionality, and aesthetically pleasing.
My only concern is losing the clock setting functionality in the instrument cluster because it's set through the head unit.

Phone functionality should be stock, just get the bluetooth cradle.. available on ebay.

tons of them...
It does not have all the bells and whistles as a 2016 setup but its the cheapest and easiest way to go. Other wise you have a huge load of work to do. I have the command manual and the pairing info on pdf if you need.

I think the OP is looking for a general upgrade and not just a BT add-on. I could be wrong though. I don't know where the OP is from, so it's not certain that his/her vehicle has the phone system installed, which would be a much more expensive and complicated endeavour.

I have the blue tooth connect from MB, but all it does is phone, no music from the phone.... Or am I mistaken? As far as I know, the phone system is all there, I can make calls through the cars audio and what not, but that's it. No music from the phone.. Unless I just don't know how to actually get it to work.. I do have the iPod (30 pin) cord in the glovebox, but apparently can't use the adapter to get my iphone6 to work with it....... I don't really want to change out the stock deck, but it almost seems like that's the best option.... Unless there is something I'm missing that would be cheaper..

Hi,
Right you are, phone BT can not be used to stream the music. I'm using Auris Skye WiFi Music Receiver for music streaming, though it looks like this specific device is not available anymore :-(But you may try to find another similar device :-)

the part is here if you have the standard sound system. Do you have the Harmon Kardon system?

it's the same as on the ML so you should be able to find plenty used.
I am going to be blunt. The information to add blue tooth, change speakers, find parts etc, is out there. If you have not put in the effort to find out, educate and inform yourself I would suggest you stick to OEM. The world of aftermarket audio is huge. Simply asking for suggestions is going to get you a zillion answers. I spent several thousand dollars and 100 man hours upgrading the audio system in my C240. Yet the OEM Harmon Kardon system in my R class is just as enjoyable to listen. So do not underestimate the quality of MB EOM audio. It is made by the same big name aftermarket brands.
How do you know it's the speaker and not a connection somewhere? Have you removed the door panel to check it? These are the basic steps. If you have never removed a door panel from another car, I suggest you don't get your apprenticeship on a Benz!

I've removed door cards before. The speaker is definitely going out, it makes the nasty noise of a tear in the cone or a separation somewhere in the speaker.... It's very NOT crisp and clear, and very muffled and almost staticky... I'll see what I can dig up that'll work, thanks for the info!

Anyone tried this unit? Seem like a perfect fit. I wonder if the factory back up camera will work with it
