Post AUX/Bluetooth connectivity

I'm having trouble with streaming music on my 06 R500. I do have the aux connection in the glove compartment along with the old ipod connection but it doesnt do anything, only plays the old ipod, nothing never than that. Is there any way to make it work with iphone 6 or the aux bluetooth units, which I have one but when plugged into the aux it doesnt play anything(the bluetooth has no problem connecting to my phone by the way) Anyone has a solution?

It sounds like your iPod connection kit might be damaged or possibly has become disconnected.

You can swap it out for a standard aux jack.

How do you swap out the iPod cord for an aux cord? I would love to do that as it would be a cheaper way to go about getting my tunes in the merc....

Hi,

I'm using Auris Skye
Amazon.com : auris skye: WiFi Music Receiver for your Dock : Electronics Amazon.com : auris skye: WiFi Music Receiver for your Dock : Electronics
for music streaming, though it looks like this specific device is not available anymore :-( But you may try to find another similar device :-)

BR,

Vitalii

You have to buy the kit, then pull out the head unit and swap the iPod cable out for the AUX cable. I don't think it requires any re-programming.

Where does it install? I bought something similar and it didn't come with instructions...... I took the head unit out and couldn't find anywhere that it would go......

That one plugs into the iPod receptacle in the glove box.

If you bought one with a 3.5mm headphone jack you would plug it into the 3.5mm headphone jack in your glovebox, if you have one.

The iPod receptacle being the actual iPod plug? I've checked and that's the only thing in there, other than the cd changer..... I followed the iPod jack and it goes to a box under the head unit, but it has more of a cat 5 looking plug...

I'm just going to assume that I have a different setup..... I did find a 3.5mm jack though, so there's one way to do it...

Yes. The plug in your glove box that you plug an iPod into. The Viseo Tune2Air should just work once you plug it in. No need to pull out the head unit in that case.

Maybe post a picture of the device you bought so we can see what sort of connection it has.

It sounds like you have the same as me.

There are a number of multi-media interfaces out there, and they connect in a few different ways. The 3.5mm jack is the simplest for an audio only connection - if you want to add bluetooth to that you would need a power source also. Tune2air has a variant for this also. But if you want a cleaner install, you can get the MB iPod integration kit, and then the iPod version of the Tune2air, that way the audio and power supply are all in one receptacle.

It claimed to work for 2006-2012(?) Mercedes r class....... But like I said, ift was a whole of $15 shipped, so not a big deal if I can't make it work.....

I think they misstated it, because I looked at the listing and also the same part on amazon and it only has the plug for Audi/VW, which use a different system all together.
